Women’s Basketball Weekly Blog January 9, 2018 Hello again Yellow Jacket fans! At the close of the last blog, we were preparing to go up to Ohio Dominican. Friday night before our game, Dr. White and his family invited us to dinner at their house. The food was delicious but the real fun began after dinner when we played a game called "Heads Up". If you aren!t familiar with this game it is an app on your phone that you can choose categories, for example one category was animals. One person holds the phone on their forehead and the name of an animal will pop up and their team has to describe that animal until you guess it right. It!s a blast. We ended up playing a category called "Act it Out". As you can guess it!s like charades so you can!t speak at all. I wish this blog had a video link because I!d love to show you Lady Jacket fans Coach Hoffman!s hilarious speed skater impression! A blast was had by all and we are so thankful for the Whites welcoming us into their home!

We left for ODU the next morning and headed to our usual pregame meal spot: Panera. Our game against ODU was a nail biter but we came out with a huge road win. Special shout out to Regina Hochstetler who went off for a career-high 36 points!! The best way to sum up that game is to share what Emily Williams said on the bus going home: "I!m just so happy for everyone, everyone is happy and I!m happy for everyone". Emily!s quote of how happy she was for everyone is a great example of how our team is. Everyone was excited for Reggie!s 36 points, everyone was excited for Kaitlyn and Bre!s rebounds, for our team defense, our execution. Everyone contributed and everyone was excited for each other. It!s such an encouraging atmosphere to be a part of. The team effort and win was my favorite part of the game, but a close second comes from Ashlyn Huffman during the starting line-up announcements. Freshman, "Ash"as we call her, has been starting since our game against Malone. At ODU, when they called her name to run out, instead of just running out with the traditional hand slaps, she decided to impersonate Coach!s speed skating impression. I must say it was pretty good and very funny. Thanks for that Ash, and thank you Coach for letting us make fun of you just a little. :) Until next time. Abby Wolford is a junior from Cincinnati, OH majoring in health and physical education. She is in her third season with the Lady Jackets after missing the entire 2016-17 campaign due to injury. Tonight’s Game

The Cedarville University Lady Jackets host the Hillsdale College Chargers in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) game tonight in the Callan Athletic Center. Cedarville is under the leadership of second-year Head Coach Kari Hoffman (31-14). The Lady Jackets, winners of four consecutive games, are 12-3 (7-2 G-MAC) on the season after recording an 89-88 league win at Davis & Elkins on Saturday. Hillsdale enters tonight!s game with a 9-6 mark on the year and a 7-4 G-MAC record after defeating visiting Findlay 75-67 on Saturday. Regina Hochstetler, a 5-7 junior guard, leads the Cedarville offensive attack with an 18.1 points per game scoring average. Hochstetler tops CU with 23 steals with a second-best .857 effort at the charity stripe. Junior Baylee Bennett, a 5-5 guard, is the second-leading scorer for the Lady Jackets (12.4 ppg) while topping the squad with 47 three-point field goals and a .882 mark from the free throw line. Bennett tied the school record of eight Regina Hochstetler three-point baskets in a game for the second time this year when she accomplished the feat on Saturday at Davis & Elkins. Guard Kaitlyn Holm, a 5-7 senior, is the third Lady Jacket scoring in double digits with an 11.7 ppg average with a team-high 58 assists. Senior Breanne Watterworth, a 6-3 forward, is averaging 11.5 ppg and 8.9 rpg with a secondbest .600 field goal pct. Baylee Bennett Hillsdale Head Coach Matt Fritsche is in his first year with the Chargers. He comes to Hillsdale after a successful four-year stint as an assistant at Creighton University in Nebraska.

Topping the Charger offense is Makenna Ott, a 6-0 junior forward, tossing in 14.8 ppg with team-highs of 22 steals and 22 blocked shots. Allie Dittmer, a 6-1 senior center, is averaging 13.7 points per game while pacing HC with 10.1 rebounds per game. Dittmer tops Hillsdale with a .575 field goal percentage (88-of-153). Junior forward Brittany Gray is tossing in 13.9 ppg with a team-high 40 three-point field goals. The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 2-2 after CU posted an 83-68 win over the Chargers on December 13, 2017 in Hillsdale, Allie Dittmer Michigan. The teams first met in women!s basketball during the 1983-84 season - a 65-64 Hillsdale victory.
