Welcome Guests! We’re glad that you are here! Please fill out a Welcome Visitor card and place in the collection plate. Go by our welcome/information center (one on each side of the room) for materials that will better acquaint you with Lakeview. For your convenience, during our Sunday morning services we do have a volunteer staffed nursery, for children up to age 3. There is also a training room, located next to the sound room, for parents with young children to use during any service. If you have questions, feel free to approach one of our ushers, ministers, or elders.

Prayer Requests CROSS

TALK

Help Needed: On June 9th, 2018, we are having a Delano Family Day (This is a replacement event for Delano Day).

Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone in good spirits? He should sing praises. -James 5:13 

Jeff Oden’s father will be having heart surgery.

Former members Carla and Gil Taegue are asking for prayers. Gil was airlifted to Sioux Falls, South Dakota having had a major stroke last Wed after church.

Briana Brewer’s friend, Ebonie Richie, lost her brother 8 months after losing her father.

Tammy Clinton’s son is in the NICU. He was born Jan. 15th and is having blood sugar problems.

Kenny Coleman has bruised vocal cords and has been ordered not to talk.

The specific help needed is for individuals who have benefited from the camp as a camper or staff to be part of a Steering Committee.

There are two qualifications for

members on the steering committee: #1 - You have to love Delano and have a desire to see it continue as a place where young people can find and grow in faith. # 2 - You have to be a team player, wanting to be sure the next generation hears about Delano Bay Christian Camp. Please notify Dennis Baker by February 11, 2018 if you are interested. Meetings will be conducted online with Go To Meeting, which also allows for phone-in participants. Here is contact information for Dennis (Cell # is 253.312.7288; Email address is [email protected]). I look forward to hearing from you and I am excited about this new event to highlight the amazing place that Delano is. Dennis Baker - Member, Delano Bay Camp Board Ironmen:

Greg Woods has offered some follow-up

information to the material he presented at the retreat. The enemy continues to press and harass men to conform to an inferior version of masculinity, but God is using the Forge to make us tougher and stronger. Greg wants to remind us of the process and the work that God is doing in us. If you want to receive this regular encouraging reminder, let Jonathan Karkosky know. He will need your e-mail address to send the material. We want you to know that we will only use the email address to send the reminders from Greg. We will use blind cc to protect your information.

Food & Clothing Bank… Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Lakeview’s food pantry and clothing room has been opened for a year, serving our community and church family with clothing and bags of food. We have had many thank-you’s, prayers have been requested and Bibles have ben given away. We have helped 692 families with the gift of food, feeding 2,321 individuals, over the past 12 months. This could not have been done without your generous giving spirit and prayers. We hope for a new year, continuing to serve the community, our church family, and the Lord. Thank you! Family News Hildred Swearingen’s 99th birthday is on February 9th. We’d like to shower her with birthday greeting! If you can, mail a card to her at, 4610 6th St Place SE #219 - Puyallup, WA 98374. Thank you for helping make her day special. WinGS- Meal Team Meeting… We will have a brief meeting after morning worship today Sunday Feb 4th in Room 4. All ladies currently on the team or interested in getting involved are invited to attend. We will discuss communication and ideas for our team. Ladies Prayer Group will be meeting on Feb. 10th at 10am. We would love all ladies to join us for a time of prayer for our church family, families, and country. If you have any questions about this event, please see Jackie Jackson. Ladies’ Thursday Bible Class – Many people struggle to understand how the Old Testament relates to our lives today or even how the Old relates to the New Testament. We’re beginning a new video series (HIStory through History, by Linda Smith) that will carry us through an amazing journey as we learn of ancient cultures and catch glimpses of Jesus revealed in the pages of the Old Testament. Understanding the ancient culture will help you to more fully understand the Scriptures and see how God reveals Jesus in the Old Testament. May we all be informed so that our lives will be transformed by God’s Story; after all, our Father’s desire is that our story becomes a part of His Story. Join us on Thursday mornings at 10:00 AM. Thank you to everyone who gave to the special contribution for Mission Sunday. The amount collected was $2,843. Community Garden Needs… This year we are planning on planting an espaliered belgian fence line with pear trees. As it would happen, Costco has begun selling bare root pear trees for $14 each. We will need 27 trees in order to plant up this fence line. If you are willing to purchase a bare root tree, or make a donation towards a few trees, please see Jennifer Tittsworth! Also - if you are interested in growing some strawberries at your house, feel free to dig up some strawberry starts from the community garden planting. We have plenty to share!

Sermon Summaries AM Speaker: Ben Cook A Tale of Two Brothers - Luke 15:11-24 With all my heart I believe that grace is better understood in the context of a relationship than it is as a classroom topic. Grace is experienced. This morning we will take a look at the parable of the lost son, his return to the Father, and the very messy ways that believers love/hate the grace of God.

PM Speaker: Dennis Baker Turn Your Heart – Malachi 3:13-4:6 Malachi prophecies a final message to God’s people in Israel. In many ways, it called their attention away from their current problems to the future solution. In this last section of his book, Malachi tells the faithful to be patient and watch for God’s movement in history. It will be heralded by someone in the mold of Elijah. This would be humanities’ last chance.
