HOME OF THE BULLDOGS

Trabuco Mesa students are learning they are not too little to change the world while tackling the needs of our community one week at a time through the Team Kids Challenge program. Students participated in a Kick-Off Assembly, led by Team Kids Staff and our School Resource Officer, Deputy Chiron. Students learned, through a fun activity, the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and how they can help address real world issues. Students will participate in 3 weekly challenges: #1 Making a mark on hunger, by collecting 5 bins of non-perishable food

for the South County Outreach; #2 Supporting our troops, by collecting coins and writing letters for Operation Gratitude and Snowball Express; #3 Helping rescue animals, by collecting towels/ blankets for SoCal Bulldog Rescue. 5th and 6th grade students participate in leadership team lunches for 4 weeks to plan a kid run school-wide carnival. Money from the carnival tickets will be donated to a local charity chosen by the 5th/6th Leadership Team. We are so proud of our students, working together as “Team Bulldogs” to make a difference in our world!

Make Your Mark Painting a tile to add to our courtyard is a lovely way to memorialize your child’s experience at Trabuco Mesa. Friday, May 4th, 2:25—4:00 pm. Your child can draw their design for practice on the flier on page 8. Tile Painting is: •

$23 per tile for PTA members

$25 per tile for non-members

Fill out the form and bring cash or check to cover the tile, glaze, firing, and mounting costs by this Friday, and your child’s masterpiece can help illustrate another 30 years of Trabuco Mesa history.

Please Note: Tile Painting is not a drop-off event


and students must be supervised by a parent or guardian. And all tile designs are subject to approval of the PTA and School Administration.

Let’s Dance! Thank you for helping us exceed last year’s PTA Membership. On May 11th the kids will enjoy a lunch time dance party—it’s our way of saying “Thanks!” for being part of creating a strong PTA and making Trabuco Mesa a great school. 3

Go Kids, GO! Team Kids teaches children they can make a difference through collaboration and teamwork. Team Kids challenges our youth to think of others and, in turn, learn about themselves! Trabuco Mesa’s Team Kids Kick-Off Assembly was April 23rd, and was led by Team Kids staff, sheriff deputies, and firefighters. The Team Kids Challenge lasts fiveweeks and every student is invited to participate in the weekly challenges.

Fifth and sixth graders can join the Team Kids Leadership Team—which meets once a week, during lunch to plan a school-wide carnival fundraiser for the last week of the Challenge. Their goal is to raise funds for a charitable cause of their choice.

Our Team Kids Carnival is Thursday, May 31st during lunch. Check out the flier on Page 6.

PTA President's Message Can you believe that we’re only about 6 weeks away from Summer vacation! May is going to be a great month and I hope you will all enjoy the PTA and Trabuco Mesa staff-planned events this month. The 30 year Celebration, Open House & Silent Auction should be one for the books! A special shout out to the staff members who have spent numerous hours planning this community-wide event. We would like to thank all the vendors, families, volunteers, and our local community for always contributing to our school functions. The PTA encourages family engagement, and this month an incredible number of people have come together to create multiple events. If you’ve never been to a Friday night BINGO, mark your calendar. It’s a family favorite! And be sure to leave your very own painted tile masterpiece on the TM Campus! Please check the calendar and web for dates and times and let’s make May a month to remember!
