Mission Statement The Western Los Angeles County Council of the Boy Scouts of America is pleased that it welcomes more than 6,000 volunteers per year who are committed to preparing our youth to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the principles of the Scout Oath and Law. We recognize that Scouts come from all walks of life, all types of family units, lifestyles, faiths and racial and ethnic backgrounds. The Council respects the rights of all people and desires that our youth enjoy scouting, free from divisive distractions and the politics of the day. We welcome the broad diversity of our scouting community, and we believe each of our staff members and volunteers exemplifies the core values embodied in the Scout Oath and Law. We respect the principal role that parents play in instilling these values in their children, and we are proud to be their partners in inspiring our youth to achieve their goals. Our vision is to offer our youth responsible fun and adventure; train them in citizenship, service and leadership; and to instill in them a lifetime of values that will allow them to better serve America’s communities and families. We welcome all who share that vision and who embrace and embody our core values as Scouts.
