Part 1: More Visitors via Google Maps Let's start at the beginning: Google! Of course, for every entrepreneur it’s crucial to be found on Google. There are two scenarios when talking about Google Maps - the Explore functionality and a simple manual search. Local businesses should benefit from Google Maps: let’s first explore the “Explore” functionality. It’s different than a regular search because it’s not bind to a text string but rather to your current location. Once a user opens the app, they have the ability to explore the area around and find the location of your business. There’s always a second option: manually searching by typing a keyword or by directly spelling your business’s name in the Search bar. Whatever your future customers might do, it all boils down to the same thing - finding you. Imagine what a waste of time, resources and money would be if somebody could possibly be looking for you and couldn’t find you just because you haven’t made yourself more visible. This is what Google Maps does - to get out of the shadows and be ready to get new customers.
"Pizzeria
Barcelona"
and
"live

Despite this a lot of companies don’t have a complete profile of their business on Google Maps. Some are even not listed at all while it's an easy and free way to generate more visitors and revenue! There are two important things to consider when making your Google Maps profile: Reviews and Categories. Reviews: Google highly appreciates customer reviews. They should be genuine and organic, though. That’s why placing a request on your website to write one is not very wise. What you can do though is ask your customers personally or by email - it usually works fine and people are willing to contribute with something positive. There’s an old marketing proverb saying that people having bad customer journey/service/experience are few times more likely to share it via word-of-mouth, compared to everybody who had a positive experience. Categories: It's important to select the appropriate category/categories for your business. Take the time and read the entire list. For each category, there should be a corresponding page on your website.
