Mercy: Moving Forward in Our Community
Dear Neighbor, At the heart of Mercy are its people and the mission of providing excellent care to all who come through our doors. I couldn’t be more humbled to be the president of greater Portland’s community hospital and advance the caring tradition of the Sisters of Mercy. It’s no secret that healthcare today is changing at the state and national level. You only have to look at the front page of the newspaper to know that. Mercy too has seen its share of changes in recent years. Thankfully, these changes, while difficult at times, have allowed Mercy to reorganize into a more efficient hospital that continues to put the patient first. Since joining Mercy last year, I have had the honor of participating in a truly remarkable story. We are on a stable financial footing and growing our services. I’m especially pleased to tell you that we are on track to consolidate Mercy Hospital to our modern Fore River campus in the next three to five years. While a number of important strategies were implemented to get to this point, at the center of it all were our truly exceptional employees and medical staff. Due to their hard work, we are now in a position to expand access to our many programs and services. For example, our primary care network is now reaching more families in the region than ever before, and we’re partnering with other providers to work together to deliver comprehensive healthcare services to our community. Providing clinically excellent, compassionate healthcare for all is at the heart of what we do. It’s why Mercy Hospital is caring for our community just as we have been for the past 100 years. I invite you to join us as we prepare for the next century of care. Sincerely, Charlie Therrien President
