Navidad Nuestra Ariel Ramírez 1 La Anunciación

The Annunciation

Riding a red bolt, the angel Gabriel comes flying. With a star-pointed saber, silver spurs, he was elegant.

God Bless you Mary, the most beautiful maiden The flower is blooming, in your blood grows a child.

I am the Lord’s servant, let His will be done. The bud that becomes a flower will blossom on Christmas morn.

The angel Gabriel now returns to where God is awaiting. Where are you coming from little angel so happy are you to return?

I have seen the queen of the world, the most beautiful maiden. Her eyes are two stars, her voice the song of the dove.

I am the Lord’s servant, let His will be done. The bud that becomes a flower will blossom on Christmas morn.

2 La Peregrinación

The Pilgrimage

A la huella, a la huella, José y María. Por las pampas heladas, cardos y ortigas.

On the road, on the road, Joseph and Mary. Through the icy plains, thistles and nettles.

A la huella, a la huella, cortando campo. No hay cobijo ni fonda, sigan andando.

On the road, on the road, cutting through the plains. There’s no shelter nor inn, they keep on walking.

Little flower of the plains, carnation in the wind, if no one shelters you, where will you be born?

¿Dónde naces, florecita que estás creciendo? Palomita asustada, grillo sin sueño.

Where will you be born, little growing flower? Scared little dove, sleepless cricket.

On the road, on the road, the pilgrims. Lend me a shelter for my child.

On the road, on the road, suns and moons, almond eyes, olive skin.

Ay burrito del campo, Ay buey barcino. Que mi niño ya viene, háganle sitio!

Oh, little burro of the plains, Oh, ruddy ox. My child is coming, make room for him!

A stable of canes is my only protection, two kindred souls, the clear moon.

A la huella, a la huella, José y María. Con un Dios escondido nadie sabia…

On the road, on the road, Joseph and Mary. With God hidden within her and nobody knew…

3 El Nacimiento

The Nativity

Night foretold, night of love God has been born, petal and flower. All is quiet and serene, Peace to mankind, it’s Christmas morn.

In the manger, my saviour, this messenger of peace and love. When He smiles, light shines and in His little arms, a cross grows.

Angels sing over the manger God has been born, it’s Christmas morn.

The night God promised to mankind has now arrived. It is Christmas Eve, no one sleeps. God has been born, God is here.

4 Los Pastores

The Shepherds

Come shepherds of the field, the King of kings is born. Come before dawn, the day breaks and the night fades. Basil and cedron, thyme and bay leaves, at dawn the Child falls asleep.

Come from Pinchas and Chuquis, from Aminga and San Pedro, from Arauco and Poman. Before anyone else adores him, cheeses and flowers they’ll bring him. Basil and cedron, thyme and bay leaves, at dawn the Child falls asleep.

Ask Julio Romero for walking horses and his mule. With drums and guitars we’ll go singing through the olive grove. Basil and cedron, thyme and bay leaves, at dawn the Child falls asleep.

Oh, Christmas in Aimogasta, Aloja and añapa will be aplenty. While the Riojan moon is dying to participate. Basil and cedron, thyme and bay leaves, at dawn the Child falls asleep.

5 Los Reyes Magos

The Three Kings

The Kings arrived, they were three Melchior, Gaspar and the black one, Balthazar

Arrope and honey, they’ll bring him and a white poncho of the finest alpaca.

Boys and girls, go to sleep Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar will leave all of the presents for playing when you wake up.

The Child thanked them properly, he ate the honey, and the poncho kept him warm.

And it was then he smiled and the sun shone at midnight.

6 La Huida

The Flight

¡Vamos! ¡Vamos! ¡Burrito apurá! ¡Vamos! ¡Vamos! ¡Burrito apurá!

Let’s go, let’s go, hurry up little donkey! Let’s go, let’s go, hurry up little donkey!

If you don’t hurry, they will get them. The road is long, the salt flats are large They are already calling for the killing The dagger is already bloody If you don’t hurry, they will get them

¡Vamos! ¡Vamos! ¡Burrito apurá! ¡Vamos! ¡Vamos! ¡Burrito apurá!

Let’s go, let’s go, hurry up little donkey! Let’s go, let’s go, hurry up little donkey!

Niño bonito, no lloris mi amor ya llegaremos a tierra mejor Duérmete ya, no lloris, Cuna en mis brazos te haré. Bombos legüeros en mi corazón.

Beautiful child, don’t cry my love Soon we’ll arrive in a better land Go to sleep, don’t cry, I’ll cradle you in my arms. Distant drums in my heart.

¡Vamos! ¡Vamos! ¡Burrito apurá! ¡Vamos! ¡Vamos! ¡Burrito apurá!

Let’s go, let’s go, hurry up little donkey! Let’s go, let’s go, hurry up little donkey!

7 Kyrie Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison. Kyrie Eleison.

Lord, have mercy, Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

8 Gloria Gloria in excelsis Deo, Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis. Laudamus te, benedicimus te, Adoramus te, glorificamus te. Gratias agimus tibi propter magnam gloriam tuam. Domine Deus, Rex coelestis Deus pater omnipotens. Domine fili unigenite

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace to men of good will. We praise thee, we bless thee, We worship thee, we glorify thee. We give thanks to thee for thy great glory. O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty O Lord, the only-begotten Son,

Jesu Christe. Agnus Dei, Filius Patris. Qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis. Qui tollis peccata mundi, suscipe deprecationem nostram. Qui sedes ad dexteram Patris, Miserere nobis. Quoniam tu solus sanctus, Tu solus dominus, Tu solus altissimus, Jesu Christe, Cum Sancto Spiritu, in Gloria Dei Patris. Amen.

Jesus Christ, the most high, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father. Thou that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takes away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sits at the right hand of the Father, have mercy upon us. For Thou only art holy, Thou only art the Lord. Thou only art most high, Jesus Christ, With the Holy Ghost in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

[I believe in one God,] the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds. God of God, light of light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven. And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

He was also crucified for us, under Pontius Pilate, he suffered, died and was buried. And on the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven. He sits at the right hand of the Father. He shall come again with glory, to judge the living and the dead and His kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who, together with the Father and the Son, is worshipped and glorified who spoke through the prophets. And one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.

et apostolicam Ecclesiam. Confiteor unum baptisma in remissionem peccatorum. Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum. Et vitam ventura saeculi. Amen.

I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. And I await the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

10 Sanctus Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth. Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria tua. Hosanna in excelsis.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts. Heaven and earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.

Blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in excelsis.

Hosanna in the highest.
