PREFACE

This volume contains forty three papers from twenty-four countries in five continents. The proceedings papers are grouped into six topics. The topic of rainfall fields is composed of papers which report on research results on the prediction and modeling of rain fields using remote sensors and ground-truth data. The papers on the topic of physics-based hydrologie models discuss the hydrodynamic-based approaches to the modeling of hydrologie processes. The papers which comprise the topic of rainfall-runoff models report recent research results on the systems and the géomorphologie approaches to runoff modeling. The papers on the topic of floods discuss the regionalization methods for the development of flood frequency distributions. The topic of droughts is composed of papers which report recent research results on various aspects of droughts. Finally, the papers on the topic of geographic information, decision support and expert systems are reporting on new trends in these emerging fields in water resources. As such, these proceedings reflect the exciting developments around the world concerning surface water modeling during the recent years. Co-Convenors M.L.
