S UMMER N EWSLETTER July 2013 Your Carbon Footprint: How to Tiptoe Across the Earth Join us as Dr. Bostick talks about the role of your “Carbon Footprint” on the Planet Earth and how to reduce it. Your carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide that you send into the atmosphere by way of respiration, decay and combustion of fuels. The role of carbon dioxide and other gases which contribute to the “greenhouse effect” on global warming will be described as well as the relationships of the roles of air, water, geology and life in the cycling of carbon over space and time. This program, originally presented as our Spring program, was cut short due to dangerous weather in the area on the night of presentation. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time. Refreshments at 6:30pm, program at 7:00pm, Nathan Dean Room Cartersville Public Library
BOOK SALE ADDITIONS 2013 book sales have seen the addition of a “specials” table of books. These books sell for more than our usual $1 per hard back book. Using knowledge gained from our rare books program last year, Ed Bostick volunteered to research the value of some donated books and price them accordingly. Last sale, approximately seven boxes of special books were sold with one of them bringing a selling price of $30. The board would like to recognize and thank Ed for his efforts. Revenue from the spring sale and the summer sale are $1725.51 and $2040.35 respectively. Many thanks to our large number of volunteers who make this happen. Next sale: Saturday Sept. 7
