The O2O (Oracle-to-Oracle) Transition Services Set has been created by the SAP Solution Center in Walldorf, Germany, to meet the growing challenges encountered by our customers with regard to availability. Using this service set, it is possible to execute trouble-free hardware migrations and to perform partial or complete database reorganizations without risk to the production environment. This method supports all operating systems on which at least Oracle 8.1.7 is installed, and it is fully hardware-independent. Heterogeneous Database Migrations

The O2O Services Set offers Oracle customers a faster and more reliable method for changing hardware platforms, migrating even very large SAP systems greater than 2TB during the span of one weekend. O2O Features Overview The O2O Service, delivered globally by the Oracle SAP Support Services team, has been used for over four years in hundreds of SAP and non-SAP migrations worldwide. Many features have been added since its initial development to support a wider range of different database systems and configurations as well as different migration scenarios (migrations over WLAN). Key features of O2O include: • Runs on all UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems – cross database migration possible • Automated scheduling software to make the migration easier • Changing database user names including SAP schema name • Migration to SAP single tablespace layout • Creating an individual tablespace layout, also for legacy databases • Moving selected tables and indexes to individual tablespaces (defined in an Input-File) • Excluding selected database users from migration (defined in an Input-File) • Copying table structure only for selected tables, e.g. create size reduces database copies • Resumable Transaction per Default (Job freeze 24h) • All options can be combined in any order, and tablespace sizes on the target system are calculated automatically • Parallel copy method for large tables • Import of external scripts to create customized migration scripts (partitioning) • Simple LIST partitioning based on the column “MANDT” possible • IOT-Support • Enhanced partitioning support (sub partitioning, Global, Global partitioned and local indexes) • Support for DataPump export/import for tables having LOB or Long Raw datatypes • Supports table sorting during migration • Index compression on target system • Table compression for 10g and 11g • Enhanced migration checks based on row counts on each table in source and target system

Oracle Support and Services for SAP in Walldorf, Germany, has developed a new online migration process which allows users to migrate their operating system, hardware platform or even database release with a very short SAP system downtime of just a few minutes. The method uses functions integrated in the Oracle database for the initial alignment and Oracle GoldenGate (OGG) for data synchronization. The process is suitable for all SAP products and solutions, for example R/3, BI, CRM and XI based on an Oracle database of any size.
