OBJECTIVE Description of the necessary steps to install and configure all necessary third party software to Study WSI Method.
APLICATION SCOPE English Anytime.
DEFINITIONS AND SIGNS English Anytime – Ability to study WSI Method outside the WSI Centre in any computer or internet connection.
PROCEDURE Assuming that all hardware is functioning correctly, there are three things to check: • Java Software: o Uninstall all versions of Java, starting with the earliest version, e.g. uninstall 1.4*, then 1.5*, etc; o Delete the Java folder from either “C:\windows\Sun” or from “C:\documents and settings\\application data\Sun”; o Reboot the Computer; o Go to this site: http://www.wsistudents.com/plugin_check.jhtml; o Click the “Download” button in the row listing Sun JVM 1.5.0_04; o Do not run the executable, rather save the installation executable to the local machine; o Reboot the Computer; o Please verify that your advanced internet settings are correct after the installation as displayed below.

o All versions of Java from 1.4 – 1.6 and systems having variants of 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 were tested on 98, 2000, XP Professional, and Vista Business. • VIMAS Certificate Verification: o As a first step, please open the java console on one of the problematic computers (Start --> Control Panel - Java Console) and navigate to the Security tab and click the certificates button as shown below:
o If two instances of the VIMAS certificate are present, click the details button for each respective certificate;
o One of the certificates should be expired having the following beginning and end dates: April 12, 2005 - April 11, 2007; o The other certificate will be valid having the date range of: March 16, 2007 - April 12, 2009; o Delete the invalid certificate; o If you don’t have the “March 16, 2007 - April 12, 2009” or any VIMAS Certificate, as soon as you enter “http://www.wsistudents.com” website, and start a recording activity the Method will ask permission to install the new certificate

• Flash Player Correct Version: o WSI Method works virtually with the most recent Flash Player Version, but due to frequent Flash Updates from Adobe; o WSI made a work-around to install a compatible version of Flash 9 and give instructions to set the Flash application to stop all auto updates, this will ensure that the Flash version stays the same since any update may cause the issues with Method Video or Sound, we recommend that you follow the steps below: Navigate to the URL http://coursework.wsistudents.com/lms/jvmdownloads/flashf ix.exe; When the box displayed below appears, click RUN:
Next, you will see a status window as the fix is copied to the computer:
Now, the file has been copied to the computer. Click RUN at the window displayed below:

At the next screen, click YES to uninstall the current Flash Player:
Once you see the “completed” screen displayed below, click CLOSE:
The next step to install the correct version of Flash will complete automatically. Once complete, the installation window displayed below will close. This will complete the removal and reinstall of Flash:
To check if you now have the correct version, go to Adobe website, http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about” you will see a window similar to the one below displaying your version as 9.0.47.0:

To ensure that the system does not make any new update select the option “Settings Manager” on the right as displayed below:
Select the option “Global Notifications Settings Panel”, and uncheck the Notify option as displayed below:
Although you’re in the Adobe website you are actually changing the Flash Player settings in your PC. If this version is not displayed, please restart the computer and begin the process again at step Flash Player Correct Version. If after all settings are applied and you still unable to study, please contact your WSI Centre.
