F&F Unit 3: Main Idea using Non-Fiction (Sept. 21st—Oct. 9th) We are about to wrap up our third Foundations and Frameworks Unit, Unit 3: Main Idea– Non-Fiction. We will be using various articles and paragraphs from our Social Studies books. Students will need to be able to find the main idea, three supporting details, give one suggested detail, and write a paragraph. Pattern statements, process questions, visual tools, and vocabulary words are in your child’s binder. (You may also scan the QR code below to download this information.) It would greatly benefit your child to practice this information each night. Vocabulary Test Oct. 6th * Performance Task Oct. 8th * Skills Knowledge Oct. 9th
F&F Unit 4: Cause and Effect (October 12th - Nov. 3rd ) On the 12th, we will begin our fourth Foundations and Frameworks Unit, Unit 4: Cause and Effect. Students will either read the novel Sarah, Plain and Tall, Justin and the Best Biscuits in the World, and Stone Fox. New pattern statements, process questions, visual tools, and vocabulary words will be placed in your child’s reading binder on the 12th. You may also scan the QR code below to download this information. It would greatly benefit your child to practice this information each night. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions that you might have.
Mystery Book Reports are due October 9th. Please make sure your child is working on this a little each week. Additional copies of the sheets can be found on the website. Students will briefly present their folders to the class and tell about their book. Good Luck, detectives ! Show Off your Fall Frenzy Shirt and Win MONEY for EDEN! If you purchased a Fall Frenzy shirt, be sure to snap a picture of you or your child wearing it. Post the picture on Facebook or Instagram with the following message: “Eden is going to Fall Frenzy2015 at Pell City Lakeside Park. #fallfrenzy2015” Every time you post, repost or share, Eden will be entered to win $500. We hope to see you all at Fall Frenzy on the 10th. Stop by the Eden booth for some yummy cotton candy. 3rd and 4th Grade Stay-N-Play will be Friday, October 9th from 3:00-5:00. The cost to stay will be $5.00. All concessions will be $1.00. Another way to help Eden earn money is to use the Shoparoo app. All you have to do is download that app on your smart phone or device and take pictures of your receipts from any store. It is that easy! Be sure to use your PUBLIX Partners card each time you shop at Publix. Eden earns money from each use. If you need more cards for friends and family, let your child’s teacher know.
Report Cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 13th. Please sign and return them as soon as possible.
Goodie Day is every Friday. All snacks are $1.00. We are still collecting aluminum cans to cash in for money towards the new projects. You may drop your cans in the receptacle near the outdoor classroom. Spread the word and have your friends and coworkers collect cans for Eden.

The second nine weeks begins Thursday, October 8th. New AR goals will be set for each student. These goals will need to be meet on or before December 17th. Your child needs to be reading for 20 minutes each night and taking AR tests when they finish a book.
