3s

The 1s have been working hard since preseason started for them in mid-August. Whilst there are many new faces to the team, this didn’t stop them from bonding quickly on and off the pitch and learning to work as a new unit.

The 2s squad is also looking considerably different to that of last year’s line-up. Beth Walker Smith returns from placement to captain the strong side who are striving for promotion this season. The 2s hard work is paying off as they top the BUCS league table.

The 3s are competing alongside our 2s in the Midlands 1A BUCS league amongst some strong sides. However, this talented team, led by defender Kuda Kamwaza, got off to a fantastic start in early October securing a 3-2 win over rivals Birmingham 3s in a tenacious away game.

5s

Similar to all of the squads at LSULHC, the 4s have a mixture of old and new members. This team is currently unbeaten in the Leicestershire Premier Division and they certainly aim to maintain this fantastic momentum. Captain Ellie Mann looks to keep up their winning streak after working hard in pre-season which led to such a strong start for the feisty 4s.

The 5s squad are lucky enough to take on 18 new players this season after trials in freshers. This large squad will learn from experienced player Ellie Prideaux who will teach the girls the values of LSULHC. The team put in an incredible performance against Nottingham 3s in their last BUCS game which was a real confidence boost needed for the girls to move forward as a team.

Who is your favourite committee member and why? Sosie, she’s an inspiration to all young, aspiring hockey players. She works hard on and off the pitch at everything she does.

Committee The LSULHC committee attended various training sessions this month to keep the club moving forward in the positive direction it’s heading in. Committee member of the month has been awarded to Emma Patterson for all her hard work she put in at the start of the season to make sure our pre-season set us up to start the season as strongly as possible.

 What is your best hockey skill? Drag flick, one of my many skill sets.  What is your favourite night out in luff? Obviously a hey ewe, silly question.  What would you recommend to eat at the Paget? Cheese burger with bacon or dutty fries but without the jalapeños as they’re a bit spicy for me.  What is your favourite song currently? Shout out to my ex – little mix (but don’t worry, Craig and I are still going strong) 

Who do you think is the best hockey player in the club? Apart from myself…obviously, Ellie Rayer – my hockey idol.
