Experience Traditional Japanese Performing Arts An event showcasing regional traditional performing arts will be held in Shibuya. There will also be items for sale and other attractions. Please stop by and check it out. • Traditional Performing Arts for Reconstruction Support in Shibuya Paradise As a means of providing reconstruction support for the Great East Japan Earthquake, Miyagi Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture—and Iida City and Kagoshima City, both of which have ties with Shibuya—will be presenting traditional performing arts. Date and time: May 6 (Mon., national holiday), 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Location: Shibuya Ekiato (Tokyu Toyoko Line old Shibuya Station platform concourse) • 16th Shibuya-Kagoshima Ohara Festival This is a traditional festival that Shibuya City and Kagoshima City—which has close ties to Shibuya— jointly hold. A dancing parade will proceed to the rhythm of the Ohara-bushi song.

Some Timely Announcements from the Shoto Museum of Art

Shibuya City Shoto Museum of Art’s Permanent Collection Exhibition I A Modern Holiday—Photos from 1920s Dates: May 15 (Wed.) to June 2 (Sun.) Location: Owada Gallery, Shibuya City Cultural Center Owada 2F This exhibition introduces the works of Isao Kakefuda (1886 to 1953), Kiichiro Ishida (1886 to 1957), and Moto’o Otaguro (1893 to 1979), who worked as the Shashin-Geijutsu-Sha, which pursues photo artistry, during the Taisho period—the era in which people started to enjoy taking photos—and includes precious photographic prints from the Taisho era. Gallery Talk (Commentary by the Curator): May 26 (Sun.), from 2:00 p.m.

The Shoto Museum of Art will be closed for renovations until the end of December 2013.
