Plainfield Recreation 2014-2015 Youth Basketball YOUTH BASKETBALL is open to children who live in the Town of Plainfield. Youth Basketball is designed to teach children the fundamentals of basketball including skill development and sportsmanship.
Children are placed on teams who are coached by volunteers. Teams are co-ed. The season will begin in late November and go through February. Games are held at Plainfield Central School and practices rotate between Plainfield Memorial, Plainfield Central, Moosup Elementary and Shepard Hill. There is one practice and one game per week rotating between Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday with an occasional Saturday. The program is held in the evenings. Players will recieve a full schedule at the first practice. Players will attend a “Team Selection” night where their skills will be evaluated and they will be placed on a team. A letter confirming this date will be mailed once registration closes.

HOW TO REGISTER: 1. Registration begins 10/14/14. A registration form must be completed and returned with the $50 registration fee to the Plainfield Recreation Office. 2. The REGISTRATION FORM is available online at www.plainfieldct.org click on Recreation link and then Registration Form link. Forms are also available at the Recreation Office. 3. Registration closes 10/31/14 or when program is full . There is limited space in each division. Registrations are first come, first serve. 3. We do maintain a waiting list of children who wish to play but miss the closing date. 4. Children must wear sneakers. A game t’shirt is provided. We recommend mouth guards for all children participating in youth sports. .

This is an instructional program that will teach basic and fundamental basketball skills. Children will learn skills through drills and scrimmages. A smaller ball and lower basket are used. Sneakers are required. We recommend all children in youth sports wear mouth guards.

Refund Information: Refunds (depending on program) may be given if particpant cancels two weeks prior to start of program and it does not effect the outcome of a program. Credits will be given up to the first full week of program. There are no credits or refunds for trips, child care registration fees or summer recreation deposits.
