A
new year is a great occasion to make plans. What’s on your list for 2018? Nurture your creativity with art? Learn a new language? Add to your computer skills? Research your family tree? Join us at the library and learn something new! Whether you engage with us online from the comfort of home, or come in to the library, the year ahead holds unlimited possibilities with new services and programs for our community. The Friends of Plano Public Library has made a generous gift to provide a library outreach vehicle for increased community engagement. The role of the library in reading readiness will be enhanced by a year-round storytime schedule. New programs offer opportunities to explore new avenues. For example, the Wonder Café engages local business representatives to share their expertise. Pop-up Author events bring in best-selling authors to tell their stories. And Thinking Money, a financial literacy initiative, offers opportunities for all ages to learn about money and financial responsibility. The library has enhanced its eMagazine collection, adding Flipster to RB Digital (formerly Zinio). Keep up with news, business and consumer information, travel and lifestyle trends with a variety of popular eMagazines. And film streaming has arrived in Plano with Kanopy! Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 titles, including award-winning documentaries and acclaimed films, rare and hard-to-find titles, and classic films, with collections from The Great Courses, Kino Lorber, and PBS among many others. Download our mobile app and take us with you wherever you go. The library is your resource. Explore something new – find programs and services for kids, adults and families presented here on the pages of Engage. We have something for everyone. Check us out!
