Overview Transparency International Australia (TI Australia), the Australian chapter of the world’s leading non‐ governmental anti‐corruption movement, is seeking a full‐time Fundraising Coordinator located in Melbourne, Australia, to lead Phase II of the ‘Mining for Sustainable Development’ programme. This programme seeks to achieve real change in combatting corruption in the mining sector and building the capacity of TI Australia as a Centre of Expertise on anti‐corruption in mining. The role requires a highly skilled professional fundraiser with demonstrated experience in securing funds and managing donor relations for a large complex international programme. The successful candidate will be a highly respected practitioner with outstanding communication skills, including cross‐cultural communication, and experience working with international donors. An understanding of the extractive industries would be advantageous.
Organisational Context Transparency International (TI) is a global movement, composed of more than 100 national chapters worldwide and an International Secretariat in Berlin, Germany. For more than 20 years, TI has played a leading global role in combatting corruption, which is widely recognised to be a serious impediment to economic development and a destabilising social force. TI Australia has operated as an accredited TI national chapter since 1995, focusing on ways in which Government and Australian‐based companies and institutions can address corruption issues both in Australia and abroad. Led by TI Australia with the support of the TI Secretariat, the ‘Mining for Sustainable Development’ programme (M4SD) seeks to enhance the contribution of mining to sustainable economic and human development through a focus on improved transparency and accountability in the award of mining‐

related permits, licences and contracts across a range of national jurisdictions. Based on the programme’s ‘bottom up’ approach to ensure that change happens at the level where decisions about mining approvals are made, the primary role of the programme team is to support the participating TI national chapters. Phase I of the programme has been successfully completed. During Phase I, participating TI chapters identified and assessed corruption vulnerabilities in the mining approvals processes in their countries and began building multi‐stakeholder networks. Phase II will focus on addressing those vulnerabilities at a national, regional and global level through multi‐stakeholder engagement, advocacy and policy initiatives.
The Role The Fundraising Coordinator will lead and coordinate fundraising for the ‘Mining for Sustainable Development’ programme, and will ensure that it secures additional funding to achieve its sustainability objectives. S/he will identify sources of funding, will liaise with key donors, prepare concept notes and coordinate reporting for both the global work and to support the TI chapters to secure their funding for the Mining for Sustainable Development programme. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a candidate who is truly inspired and energised by the opportunity to help lead a global initiative designed to generate tangible and lasting change in the fight against corruption; while directly contributing to TI Australia’s strategic development and global leadership. The Fundraising Coordinator will report to the Head of Programme, Mining for Sustainable Development. S/he will have no direct line reports, but is expected to liaise closely with the TI Secretariat External Stakeholder Engagement team in Berlin and the Regional Advisers.
Key Duties The Fundraising Coordinator will be expected to: • develop a fundraising strategy and implementation plan; research, identify, map and assess funding opportunities and prospects, including relevant upcoming calls for proposals; • develop highly competitive grant concept notes and proposals; • maintain and strengthen relationships with existing donors, and cultivate new and potential funding relationships; • establish and maintain a donor database with correspondence and communications; • support participating chapters in establishing and implementing their own fundraising strategies and proposals; • manage grant reporting process to ensure reporting requirements, grant deliverables, and project milestones are met and communicated with funders in a timely manner; • provide advice on project, programme, and contract design, donor rules and regulations, as well as donor relations and communication in general, and increase TI team capacity in this; • liaise with all relevant team members in Australia and Berlin and contribute to the exchange of learning and expertise within a community of fundraising practice across TI M4SD; • attend meetings with donors and prospects, and keep records of these meetings; • contribute to a global community of professional practice, particularly with other TI chapters also leading Global Thematic Network Initiatives around the world; and

contribute to the growth and development of TI Australia as a leading TI chapter, including support for their fundraising activities as required.
Key Competencies To be successful in this role, the Fundraising Coordinator will have: • • • • • • •

relevant professional qualifications in communications, marketing or another relevant field; seven years of experience in working in a relevant role in the public, private or not‐for‐profit sectors; proven work experience with and in‐depth understanding of donor funding procedures, rules and regulations; demonstrated experience in securing six and seven figure multi‐year grants for complex multi‐ country programmes; demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating successful fundraising strategies with institutional and foundation donors; experience in building and managing relationships with institutional and foundation donors outstanding oral and written communication skills in English with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and the ability to present complex issues effectively to a wide range of stakeholders; proven project management skills, including attention to detail, accuracy and delivering proposals and reports on time; high‐level analytical skills including report writing, and proficiency working with Excel and databases; demonstrated experience of engaging/working with or within civil society organisations, and a sound understanding of their role in advocating for change; good understanding of programme design approaches; experience of working on natural resource governance and/or anti‐corruption programmes an advantage; and fluency (written and spoken) in English and good knowledge of Spanish and/or French an advantage.

Further Information The successful candidate will be offered a contract to the end of 2019 (subject to funding and a successful probation). The successful candidate will be offered a remuneration package, with a salary of AUD 100,000 p.a. (including Australian superannuation contributions) and an additional relocation allowance, if required. The successful candidate will be expected to start work as soon as possible. The position is based in Melbourne, Australia, with travel to the TI Secretariat in Berlin, Germany, relevant international participating TI chapters across regions and to meet with donors as required.
