PPC foundation training
member/non-member
Level: a dvanced
With Angela Lake-Carroll, experienced family mediator, trainer and PPC
9.30am - 5.00pm (registration 9.00am) 27 - 28 June 2018 London “I want to support and incentivise separating and separated couples to make their own arrangements for their children and finances, wherever possible. With the right tools and information, most separating couples shouldn’t need to take their disputes to court. I am a strong supporter of family mediation in the private law process. Mediation enables parties to take ownership of their dispute and helps them to reach an agreement rather than be subjected to a court order which one party – or both parties – may not want”. Caroline Dinenage, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Women, Equalities and Family Justice, December 2015 Mediators need not just to be united, they need to be properly supported and assisted in their practice towards appropriate qualification and recognition as practising to, and maintaining, a standard of excellence. Are you able to support other mediators in both their private and publicly funded practice? Professional Practice Consultants provide invaluable and increasingly vital support to mediators. And, as a result of a significant rise in the number of solicitors training to be mediators, increasing the network of available consultants is urgent and essential as the mediator population grows. This course is open to experienced mediators who hold FMCA status and have been in continuous practice as a family mediator for at least three years. Applicants will need an endorsement from their own PPC. For those who wish to support mediators in publicly funded practice, LSC provisions require Professional Practice Consultants to be themselves competent to carry out publicly funded work. This two-day training course leads to recognition as a Professional Practice Consultant.
