HIGHLIGHTS Aesthetic Medicine for men
In line with the 37th Edition, the 38th Congress will include an entire in-depth session on medical-beauty treatments for men. Special attention will be paid to different approaches to the care of men and women. Bearing witness to the international level of the scientific and educational contents of the Congress, some major international experts will speak during the session: K. Minocha, R. Jain, S. Ruiz del Cueto, P. Hedén, R. Acquilla.
Skin Firming
Two entire sessions of the Congress will be devoted to the Skin Firming issue, that is highly relevant for the Aesthetic Medicine Physician. Experts will discuss the issue, that is undergoing a continuous process of updating, thanks to the accumulating volume of different experiences and treated cases. During the session, national and international experts will illustrate results and new knowledge on treatments of the neck, arms, buttocks, knees and all other body areas that may be difficult to treat with both new and proven technologies.
The medical-surgical relay race
A specific innovative session will focus on the possibilities and limits of medical-surgical rejuvenation in the different ages. Experts taking part in the session will explain how to implement effective prevention and early repair, concluding with a description of the limits of Aesthetic Medicine and the use of surgical techniques, especially in the ‘Third Age’.
Maximum Outcome with Minimal Treatment
HIGHLIGHTS SIME 2017
The Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine has always promoted the idea of developing minimally invasive treatments, with the view of obtaining a natural, harmonious result. This issue will be at the core of a session characterised by the presence of well-known Italian opinion leaders, who are spreading a better awareness throughout the world of the value of the Italian experience and knowledge in the scientific and technological field of Aesthetic Medicine.
Aesthetic Medicine in the ‘Third Age’ Generation
In-depth issues
The core issue of the Congress is identified as the idea of the ‘Third Age’ conceived as a second youth. The Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine has always stressed that the physician needs to pay attention to all the aesthetic features of every single person, not least their chronological and biological age. Aesthetic Medicine cannot stop the flow of time or rejuvenate the patient, but it can help the patient to achieve a healthy enjoyment of all the potentialities of their biological age. In the field of Aesthetic Medicine, the correct approach moves on from a general overview of the overall health of a person, and adopts the view that it is wrong to focus only on medical-beauty treatments that could be more or less invasive. For all these reasons, the Congress will address all the issues that are closest to the SIME’s interests, with a peculiar focus on the elderly patient in terms of: nutrition, physical exercise and skin care.
Aesthetic Medicine and the Elderly Patient: the role of nutrition
In line with its focus, the Congress will include an in-depth course (CME accredited) on the issue of nutrition as a useful tool in improving the quality of life in the elderly patient. Physicians and academics will probe the issue, spanning from obesity disorders to changes in eating behaviour and the influence of anti-oxidants.
The Botulinum Toxin for alternative indications
Since the advent of Botulinum Toxin on the market in the aesthetic field, it has been considered as the safest product that an Aesthetic Medicine Physician can use. An entire session of the Congress will be dedicated to the alternative uses of the Botulinum Toxin, whose employment in recent years has embraced ever wider indications in the field of Dermatology, in the treatment of scars and obesity, as well as in pain management.
The scientific programme of the 38th SIME Congress offers a wide number of in-depth focuses on specific issues, thanks to 500 abstracts received by the Scientific Committee. Special attention will be put on the session on the management of complications, the comparison of different scars treatments, Palliative Aesthetic Medicine, the treatment of periocular and lips areas. Moreover, a huge space will be devoted to techniques and new approaches in the filler and peeling sector. There will also be a focus on innovative marketing tools in supporting Aesthetic Medicine Physician.
The Aesthetic Medicine and multidisciplinarity
The Congress aims to act as a multidisciplinary meeting-point between the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine and other Scientific Societies that operate in complementary fields to Aesthetic Medicine. The Conference will host: • a joint session between Aesthetic Medicine and Endocrinology, in scientific partnership with the Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE); • a session devoted to Anti-Aging Medicine themes, in scientific partnership with the Italian Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (AIMAA); • a session on the use of Mesotherapy applied in the field of Aesthetic Medicine, with the valuable collaboration of the Italian Society of Mesotherapy (SIM); • sessions on Face and Body Plastic Surgery, in scientific partnership with SICPRE and AICPE; • an entire session dedicated to tattoos and allergies, threats and related legislation; • the continuous and precious contribution of the Italian Association of Aesthetic and Functional Gynaecology (AIGEF); • presentations of Phlebolymphology techniques in scientific partnership with SIFL and CIF; • a seminar on Trichology in scientific partnership with the Italian Society of Trichology (SITri); • a session on medical devices for the correction of body shapes, in scientific partnership, for the first time, with the Italian Study Group on Technologies (GIST).
