Subject Fitting new type inverter to HS 4012
Service Bulletin No. SBJH/1011
The original inverter as fitted to the HS 4012 (GW30HS) model machines has now been superseded by a later version. When ordering a replacement inverter JHC code V732 (Viking code K2065) the factory supplied part will consist of a complete motor control plate with the inverter, power filter, inductance coil and control relay pre-mounted together with replacement motor plug harness, data link cable and power supply harness. Also the kit contains replacement EEPROM's for both SM/CM and PM controls as the new inverter requires a different set of operating parameters. It should be noted that the power filter, inductance coil and control relay have remained unchanged. For service purposes it has been found that by removing the inverter/power filter from the supplied motor control plate and the same on the machine that a simplified replacement procedure has been found.
To remove the inverter/power filter from the replacement motor control plate disconnect the Live (Black), Neutral (Blue) and the Eyelet Earth connections from the base of the power filter. Next loosen the four allen screws which mount the filter/inverter unit to the motor control plate and unhook the unit off the mounting screws. To remove the inverter/power filter unit from the machine first go to the processor board and disconnect the the red data link cable plug X14 off the processor board (the plug is located looking from the front of the machine down the left hand side of the board near the configure switch). Next unclip the data link cable from around the top edge of the cabinet. Next go to the rear of the machine and un-plug the drive motor plug also remove the two trox screws and 'U' clips which hold the motor harness to the motor mounting plate. Next remove the power filter/inverter unit from the machine using the same procedure for removing the power filter/inverter from the replacement motor control plate. Refit new inverter/power filter unit to machine in reverse order.
SBJH/1011 Page 2 of 4 It will also be necessary to change over the drip splash cover from the replacement motor control panel plate to the machine as the new cover fits correctly and offers the new inverter better protection from water drips should the soap dispenser overfill. After fitting the inverter/power filter unit it is necessary to replace the EEPROM as the replacement chip carries the new parameter settings which are required to operate the replacement inverter. The kit comes with both SM/CR and PM control system EEPROM's, so it is necessary to select the correct chip for the machine control system. To replace the EEPROM chip, removal of the processor board from the machine is necessary. The drawing shows the location on the board of the EEPROM chip. Whenever handling electronic components it is recommended that antistatic safety procedures are taken, however if an earthing waist band is not available, contact with the board printed circuit and chip legs should be avoided. To remove the chip gently lever with a small terminal screwdriver. First one end then the other. Care needs to be taken not to damage the chip socket base. When replacing the EEPROM chip it is important to get the chip the correct way round. Looking at the replacement chip you will see there is a half noon notch at one end, this denotes the top. The socket base on the board also has the same notch. To insert the chip first ensure all the chip legs are straight. Next insert the legs on one side then apply a gentle pressure down on that side and at the same time pull the chip over until the legs on the other side line up with the socket holes, and push down, gently. Great care needs to be taken to ensure none of the legs fold in under the chip so missing the socket base connection. After replacing the EEPROM refit the processor board to the machine.
SBJH 1011 Page 3 of 3 To complete this procedure the final part requires the machine to be reconfigured.
After refitting the processor board to the machine, the processor board will need to be configured to ensure correct operation of the machine and to match the board to the new inverter unit. This matching process is always required whenever a processor board or inverter unit is replaced. With the machine switched 'off' locate the config switch which is positioned as detailed in drawing. By sliding the config switch towards the right (in towards the board) this will change the board from normal operating mode to configuration mode.
To reconfigure SM Boards Switch the machine back 'on' the display will show 'config'. Press the 'PROG' key 13 times, the display will change to 'conu' Press the '+' key, the display shows 'LOAd' Press the 'PROG' key, the display shows 'SurE' Press the 'ACCEL' key the display shows 'UAIt' (WAIT) After a few minutes the display wll run a series numbers. When 'LOAd SI' is displayed, press the 'Start/Stop' key The displays shows 'Clr', press the 'PROG' The display shows 'CONFIG', switch the machine off and slide the config switch back to normal operating position.

Press key No.9, the display will change to 'conu' Press the 'Enter/Start' key, the display shows 'LOAd' Press the 'Enter/Start', the display shows 'SurE' Press the 'No.1' key the display shows 'UAIt' (WAIT) After a few minutes the display wll run a series numbers. When 'LOAd SI' is displayed, press the 'CLR/Stop' key The displays shows 'CONFIG 1', switch the machine off and slide the config switch back to normal operating position. Please note that any of the programme operations will NOT have been changed or erased by replacing the EEPROM chip.
WEE Directive If you are not returning the faulty processor board or inverter unit back to Girbau UK under warranty you are required under CE directive 2002/96/EC to ensure safe disposal through a licensed waste disposal service for electronic equipment and components.
