Athlete Eligibility ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY All athletes must comply with the provisions of the Olympic Charter currently in force and only those athletes who have complied with the Olympic Charter may participate in the Olympic Games. SPECIAL PROVISIONS (1) The rankings by nation are determined by the position of the three best male and three female riders from each nation in the UCI BMX World Ranking, as per Article 6.7.004 of UCI Rule Book, for the period from 06/05/10 to 28/05/12 for Category 1: World Championships; Category 2: UCI BMX Supercross World Cup. And for the period 01/08/10 to 28/05/12 the remaining events on the calendar (Category 3: continental championships; Category 4: International Classic events; Category 5: International events; and Category 6: national championships). (2) The rankings by nation at the world championships are determined by the position of the best male/female riders of each nation in the elite men’s final/elite women’s final of the 2012 UCI BMX World Championships as of 28/05/2012.
HOST COUNTRY REPRESENTATION If the host country does not qualify through criterion 1 or 2, they will be eligible for the host country places.
TRIPARTITE COMMISSION PLACES Two (2) Tripartite Commission Invitation Places are made available for eligible NOCs. On 1 November 2011, the International Olympic Committee will contact all those NOCs who are eligible to apply for Tripartite Commission Invitation Places. The deadline for NOCs to submit their requests for Tripartite Commission Invitation Places is 16 January 2012. In relation to the end of the qualification period, the Tripartite Commission will confirm, in writing, the allocation of invitation places to the respective NOCs between 1 May and 9 July 2012. Detailed information on Tripartite Invitation places is contained in the – Tripartite Commission Invitation Places - Information Paper for NOCs – which is included in the Games of the XXX Olympiad, London 2012 Qualification and Participation Criteria.
E. Confirmation process for quota places CONFIRMATION PROCESS FOR QUOTA PLACES By 1 June 2012, the UCI will confirm the number of qualifications obtained to each NOC/NF involved. Each NOC will have until 15 June 2012 to confirm to the UCI whether it will be using these quota places. After this date, any vacant places will be allocated as Tripartite Commission Invitations. The deadline for the final reallocation of places is set for 29 June 2012.
F. Reallocation of unused quota places REALLOCATION OF UNUSED IF QUOTA PLACES Any unused IF quota place(s) within the reserved quota of places will be reallocated by the Tripartite Commission.
REALLOCATION OF UNUSED HOST COUNTRY PLACES Any unused host country places will be allocated by the UCI to next best ranked NOC(s) according to the UCI ranking by nation of the 2012 UCI BMX World Ranking, which have not yet qualified.
REALLOCATION OF UNUSED TRIPARTITE COMMISSION PLACES If the Tripartite Commission is not able to reallocate all of the places, they will be assigned using the process outlined below:
