A photo ID is required for pick-up. If you are unable to pick-up your packet, you may give a letter of authorization to someone else along with a photocopy of your driver’s license or other picture ID and they may pick up for you. To save yourself time and to ensure all your information is correct, please look up your bib number in advance. To find your bib go to the confirmation link at bigsurhalfmarathon.org and enter your LAST NAME only. Your name, gender, age and bib number will pop up. If you see an error with any of the information shown, please let us know in advance of race weekend by emailing
[email protected]. There is limited race morning pick up between 5:30 and 6:45 AM to accommodate those who absolutely cannot pick up at the Expo. We cannot guarantee your shirt size if you pick up race morning. A packet pick-up tent will be located in front of the Del Mar French Laundry on Del Monte between Cortes and Figueroa Streets. See the start area map on page 6 for the exact location. You must know your bib number in advance.

HALF MARATHON ~ INFO YOU NEED TO KNOW
SWEATS
If you choose to use a sweats bag, they will be available at the Expo during packet pick-up. Use the tear-off adhesive backed “Sweats Tag” found at the top of your bib number and affix it to the middle portion of the sweats bag under the GU logo. Please do not put anything of value in your sweats bag; we are not responsible for lost or stolen property. There will be two sweats drop off vans at the start. One will be on Cortes Street at Del Monte Avenue across from the start. The other will be on Del Monte at Figueroa (entrance to Fisherman’s Wharf). Post event, sweats will be available after exiting the runners’ food tent. Any items of clothing discarded on the course or unclaimed sweats bags will be donated to Last Chance Mercantile.
AWARDS & TIMING
Timing is provided by SV Endurance. The Half Marathon is giving cash awards to the top eight overall male and female runners and the top three male and female masters (age 40 and over). Impact Magazine is also giving a cash prize to the first place male and female runners from Canada. Cash awards are based on GUN time. Pacing is not permitted for runners hoping to win an award. Divisional awards are based on TAG time and go five deep in five year age groups after 12-15 and 16-19. No double dipping for cash award winners. Results will be available online race day.
WALKERS
While we support walkers taking part in our event, it must be kept in mind that there is a 3 1/2 hour course time limit. This translates to walking an approximate 16 minute mile. In order to ensure that all our walkers are able to finish, there are three “cut-off” points on the course.
POST-RACE INFORMATION
After crossing the finish line you will be given your finisher’s medallion and a heat sheet if conditions necessitate that. You will then go past MarathonFoto for a picture opportunity with the Monterey Bay in the background. After that you will pass through the runner’s food tent and then pick up sweats if you dropped them off at the start. From there, proceed back to Custom House Plaza where the beer and soup tent are located. There will be a Lost & Found at the Info Booth on the Plaza and music and porta-potties in the grass section above the Plaza. The fountain is a great place for runners to reunite with their family. Results computers will be in two locations. Please see the map of the finish on page 7.
