Request for Proposal Network Infrastructure Upgrade Arlington, VA/Beattyville, KY/Waco, TX Issue Date: December 1, 2010 Closing Date: December 17, 2010
Background: Experience Works is a national nonprofit organization that offers training, employment and community service opportunities for mature workers. This includes a variety of programs designed to help primarily low-income mature individuals get the training they need to find good jobs in their local communities. The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), administered by the United States Department of Labor, is Experience Works’ largest program. Experience Works operates in 30 states and Puerto Rico, and serves more than 30,000 older workers each year. The organizational structure includes the National Office in Arlington, VA, two customer service centers and 22 state offices, approximately 450 staff and 700 SCSEP program participants in the local communities who help administer the SCSEP program in designated service areas. There are also approximately 20,000 program participants enrolled in the SCSEP program who are located at local community based organizations receiving training while performing work. For additional information about our program, please visit our web site at www.experienceworks.org. If you would like to compete for the opportunity to provide the services described below, please respond with a proposal via email no later than 6:00 PM, December 17, 2010.
Scope and Purpose This Request for Proposal (RFP) is for the purchase and implementation of a network solution to support Experience Works mission critical applications. This RFP will include the purchase of hardware, operating systems, software, necessary interfaces, associated cables and consulting charges to implement this system in Experience Works’ data center located in Virginia, and Service Centers located in Kentucky and Texas. Experience Works wishes to upgrade from Novell NDS to Microsoft AD and utilize VMware. We plan to incorporate 6 individual servers into the platform and also create a test lab. We have interest in implementing Virtual Desktops (future project) and would like the system sized appropriately to handle this. There are 150 users in Novell NDS that need to be migrated to AD (approximately 50 at each site). The scope of this project includes proposing a backup solution for Experience Works.

Experience Works Network Upgrade RFP
We wish to purchase IBM hardware. We are attaching original hardware specifications, which includes possible migration of our current Kronos Timekeeping System to a Windows SQL platform. This software currently resides on an ISeries server. Only include equipment quotes with IBM hardware.
Current System Information Experience Works currently operate on a Novell NDS platform at three locations – Arlington, VA, Beattyville, KY and Waco, TX. There are approximately 50 users at each site that will get migrated to the new platform. Note: State offices are currently not connected to the WAN. These offices connect to email (Lotus Notes) and Lawson Software via the internet. The network is comprised of the three sites connected by a MPLS network. The National Office, located in Arlington, VA connects with the two Service Centers (Beattyville, KY and Waco, TX). All three sites access the internet through a 4.5MB bonded T1 circuit located at the National Office location. Today, the network is mostly used for file sharing and storage. The current system is vastly undersized and over utilized. Novell Users - there are 150 users between the three locations that need to be migrated to AD. Novell NDS Version – Netware 5.x Desktop Operating System – Windows XP Mail Solution – we currently utilize Lotus Notes which runs on an ISeries platform. Lotus Notes will not be integrated with Active Directory. Internet Connection: Experience Works uses a 4.5MB bonded T1 circuit provided by Verizon, which terminates into a Cisco 2800 Series router. Firewall: Cisco ASA 5500 Series. In addition, we also utilize Websense and a Barracuda firewall. MPLS: Termed ‘Private IP’ network by Verizon. Texas and Beattyville utilized a full T1 into a 3MB pipe into the National Office location in Arlington, VA. Current Servers to be virtualized: Tempus – FTP Server – running Windows Server 2000, with 1GB of RAM, running on an Intel Pentium 4 with 120GB hard drive. Track IT – IT Help Desk Ticketing System – running Windows Server 2000, with 1.5GB of RAM, running on an Intel Pentium with 80 GB hard drive. GTNAV - Brightmail, Anti-virus – running Windows Server 2000, with 2 GB of RAM, running on an Intel Pentium 4 with 80GB hard drive. DNS Server – Primary DNS Server – running Windows Server 2000, with .5 GB RAM, running on an Intel Pentium 4 with a 160GB hard drive. EWAPPS – File Share – running Windows Server 2000, with 1GB RAM, running on an Intel Core 2 (Quad) with 500GB HD. Domino SMTP and Blackberry – SMTP and BES – running Windows Server 2000, with 4GB RAM, running on an Intel Pentium 4 with 160GB HD. Websense – Internet Management - running Windows Server 2003 R2, with 2GB RAM, running on an Intel Core 2 (Duo) with 500GB HD
