This short post is a philosophical rather than the technical post which I used to write in LinkedIn before. It made me think about the current political change, polarizing thoughts of climate change and environmental issues, and continuing reduction in resources in research and higher education. But at the same time, the emerging high tech (computer, hardware, information technology, artificial intelligence, data science, and heath systems etc.), as well as hybrid climate, agricultural, agronomy, and crop industries are thriving because of the current advancement in technology, higher education, knowledge sharing, and scientific literatures. The heart of the higher education is rooted in the non profitability and service while the private companies are rooted to gain profit. There are some private research institute for profit and engage highly trained scientist, but if we do the math, their numbers are nominal compared to nonprofit research institutes i.e. universities (please correct if I am wrong)., Now, fundamentally, if we let them compete, i.e., private profit orientated to nonprofit higher education entities, then I think this topic will emerge “Science of Business or Business of Science”. The majority (not all) of the workforce in private is trained from these higher education institutions and they flourish in the industry. People might think, there is nothing new and probably remember the original classic quote “Chicken or Egg: Which Came First”. But, as an individual working in both higher education as well as industry, I think, the numerous private companies are expert in doing “Science of Business” while almost all higher education entities now realized that they are probably struggling to understand “Business of Science”, which is not fundamentally rooted as they are nonprofit organizations. Why I am writing as “almost all higher education entities” as I have seen, noted, and documented, that virtually all higher education and research entities are worried about losing their programs because of lack of sufficient funds and outrageous competitiveness to get funding. As a layman, one of the reasons might be because that their research programs are sometimes for the coming generations and there might be a gap in the interest and impact in the current generation and the general public. Coming back to the topic again, how these educational entities flourish with these private sectors side by side? I have heard a lot about the privatepublic partnership program, if it exists, is it time to revisit their policy and make more effective? If it is effective, that means, it is not sufficient enough to address the current crisis of higher education. As more and more government and federal funding will be diminished in the coming decades, the higher research education entities will probably need to educate themselves in “Business of Science”. As these scientists are always worried about the earth, environmental and human society, i.e., for others, it is time to realize how they can survive themselves first in this competitive world along with others. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/sciencebusinessrameshdhungel?trk=vfeed&lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_recent_activity_d…
