Molloy College Freshman Scholarships Molloy Scholars Program Award Amount: Full Tuition Deadline: December 15, 2017 Website: https://www.molloy.edu/admissions/financial-aid/scholarships Description: A limited number of full tuition scholarships are available for entering first semester full-time freshman. Awards are based on academic achievement and college aptitude tests scores. These awards are competitive. Scholarships are renewable annually. Dominican Academic Scholarships Award Amount: Partial Tuition Deadline: March 1, 2018 Website: https://www.molloy.edu/admissions/financial-aid/scholarships Description: These partial tuition scholarships, ranging from $4,000 to $20,000 are based on academic achievement. Recipients must be first semester full-time freshman. Scholarships are renewable annually.

Molloy College Community Service Award Award Amount: Partial Tuition Deadline: March 1, 2018 Website: https://www.molloy.edu/admissions/financial-aid/scholarships Description: Partial tuition awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 per year awarded to entering full-time freshmen who demonstrate a commitment to their community and school. Interested students must file a community service scholarship application, which is available in the Office of Admissions and on our website. Scholarships are renewable annually. Fine Arts Scholarships Award Amount: Partial to Full Tuition Website: https://www.molloy.edu/admissions/financial-aid/scholarships Description: Awards ranging from partial to full tuition scholarships for entering full-time freshmen who are adjudged to have exceptional talent, or have achieved proficiency in art or music. Qualifications are demonstrated through audition, the submission of a portfolio, or other documented experience. Recipients must major in the areas for which the scholarships are awarded. Scholarships are renewable annually. Stony Brook University The Japan Center at Stony Brook Essay Competition Award Amount: up to $3,000 and a Cannon camera Deadline: January 8, 2018 Website: www.stonybrook.edu/japancenter Description: The Japan Center at Stony Brook (JCSB) is delighted to announce their 13th Annual JCSB Essay Competition at Stony Brook University, sponsored by Canon U.S.A. The aim of this essay competition is to promote awareness and understanding of Japan in the United States and to help young Americans broaden their international horizons. There will be three Best Essay Awards ($3,000 for the first place) and multiple additional awards. This competition is open to all high school students in the New York Metropolitan areas. Requirements:   

Must be 13 years old or older and enrolled in high schools or undergraduate programs in the New York Metropolitan area during the 2017-2018 school year Must be able to release the copyright of their essay to the JCSB and present their essay orally at the award ceremony Must be U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S. except void in Maine and wherever prohibited by law

Seton Hall University’s School of Diplomacy and International Relations Sustainable Development Challenge Award Amount: up to $2,500 cash prize and up to $10,000 scholarship to Seton Hall University Deadline: March 11, 2018 Website: www.shu.edu/go/UNChallenge Description: Seton Hall’s Sustainable Development Challenge offers high school students the opportunity to share their impactful ideas and win amazing prizes. Scholarships Due in November______________________________________________________ The Prudential Spirit of Community Award National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Award Amount: up to $1,000 & a trip to Washington D.C. Deadline: November 7, 2017 Website: www.spirit.prudential.com Description: The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards were created in 1995 to recognize students in middle level and high school grades who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. These prestigious awards, sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), are presented annually on the local, state and national level. Requirements:    

Grades 5-12 as of November 7, 2017 Legal resident of any U.S. state or Washington, D.C. Engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred at least in part after September 1, 2016 Submit a completed application to a school principal or the head of an officially designated local organization by November 7, 2017

Maryknoll Student Essay Contest Award Amount: up to $1,000 Deadline: November 10, 2017 Website: https://maryknollsociety.org/publications/essay-contest/ Description: In a world where violence is all around us – in the news, schools, communities, entertainment, etc. – Pope Francis calls us “to take a clear stand for creative and active nonviolence and against all forms of violence.” We are asking students to cite examples of violence and tell what actions they are taking or could take to promote peace. Requirements:   

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship Award Amount: up to $50,000 Deadline: November 27, 2017 Website: www.enf.elks.org/mvs Description: Since 1931, the Elks National Foundation has helped thousands of students who need financial assistance fulfill their dreams of attending college. Most Valuable Student scholars are outstanding students who are at or near the top of their classes, active in their schools and communities, and recognized as leaders by their peers. Andrew Flusche Scholarship Award Amount: $500 Deadline: November 30, 2017 Website: https://www.andrewflusche.com/scholarship/ Description: The Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest requires students to raise awareness about the importance of positive interactions with police officers and law enforcement. Applicants must create a public service advertisement video (PSA) which portrays the correct way of interacting with a police officer during a traffic stop or any other encounter. Requirements:  

Guidance Tech Leaders Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000 Deadline: November 30, 2017 Website: www.guidance.com/scholarship Description: Without a guide, the Internet and its vast expanse can seem like the Wild West of information and possibility. For our inaugural Tech Leaders Scholarship, we want to hear from the tech leaders of tomorrow and learn how you think technology and the Internet will define and shape society in the years to come and beyond. These scholarships are supported by the endowment funded by Barbara Lotze. Requirements:    

U.S. citizens attending U.S. schools Undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited two-year, four-year college or a university; or a high school senior accepted for such enrollment Pursuing, or planning to pursue, a course of study leading toward a career in physics teaching in the high schools Showing promise of success in their studies

Look Twice, Save a Life Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000 Deadline: December 1, 2017 Website: www.insuranceproviders.com/look-twice-save-a-life-scholarship Description: InsuranceProviders.com is proud to introduce a new scholarship promoting motorcycle safety among students. Requirements:   

Current college student or anyone planning on attending college (or another form of higher education) in the upcoming school year Student must have a valid driver’s license Must create a form of social awareness that inspires other students to focus on Looking Twice for Motorcycle Safety. This can be a video, artwork, essay or anything that would engage other students to focus on safe driving

National Space Club and Foundation Keynote Scholarship Award Amount: $10,000 Deadline: December 1, 2017 Website: http://www.spaceclub.org/scholarship/index.html Description: Since 2013, the National Space Club and Foundation has offered the opportunity for a student to give the keynote address at the National Space Club and Foundation’s annual Goddard Memorial Dinner, one of the space industry’s most prestigious gatherings. The student must intend to pursue a career in the Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) fields, be academically strong and excel in public speaking. In addition to speaking at the Goddard Memorial Dinner, the individual selected will also receive a scholarship, in the amount of $10,000. Requirements:    

The applicant must be a U.S. citizen The scholarship is open to seniors in high school through graduate students The applicant must intend to pursue a career in the STEM fields and plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space related interests. Requirements:    

Be a current high school senior entering a four year, accredited US college or university in the fall of 2018 Be currently a member (in good standing) of a high school sports team or be involved in after-school sports Have maintained an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher from 9th grade to the first semester of 12th grade Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Legal Resident

Scholarships Due in January & Beyond___________________________________________ Ron Brown Scholar Program Award Amount: $10,000 (annually for four years) Deadline: January 9, 2018 (November 1 for early consideration) Website: www.ronbrown.org Description: The mission of the Ron Brown Scholar Program is to advance higher education and improve the lives of public service-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans and to accelerate their progress into impactful leadership roles and opportunities. Requirements:    

U.S. citizens or permanent residents Black/African American Current high school students Applicants should demonstrate academic achievement, exhibit leadership ability, participate in community service activities and have a demonstrated financial need

Nassau County Bar Association Owen B. Walsh We Care Scholarship Award Amount: at least $1,000 Deadline: January 19, 2018 Phone: (516) 747-4070 Description: The WE CARE Fund annually awards scholarships in varying amounts from at least $1,000 each to high school seniors who reside and attend school in Nassau County. Through the scholarship, the Nassau County Bar Association WE CARE Fund seeks to reward deserving students who, by way of charitable service to their school and their community, exemplify the spirit of WE CARE. Requirements:   

U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, and a Nassau County resident Full-time secondary school senior currently enrolled in a Nassau County high school; and Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution

WACE Advancing Cooperative & Work-Integrated Education National Co-Op Scholarship Program Award Amount: up to $30,000 (per college criteria) Deadline: February 15, 2018 (Please note deadline exceptions for certain schools.) Website: www.waceinc.org Description: This year, through the National Co-op Scholarship Program, we will award 160 merit scholarships totaling $4.2 million. Students who are applying to one of the ten institutions listed in the scholarship brochure (Clarkson University, Drexel University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, The University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts Lowell and Wentworth Institute of Technology) can apply for one of these scholarships simply by visiting our website, www.waceinc.org, and completing an online version of the form or by completing and mailing the form included in the scholarship brochure (available in the Guidance Department). Requirements:    

Island Christian Church The American Heritage Scholarship Award Amount: Two $2,000 scholarships and up to four $750 High Honorable Mention scholarships Deadline: March 2, 2018 Website: www.islandchristian.com/scholarship Description: Island Christian Church wishes to promote genuine character development in the youth of our community. While the church has a very active youth ministry and outreach, it is our desire to reach beyond the confines of our church community, to the community-at-large, in order to recognize and reward young people of proven and genuine character. The American Heritage Scholarship is awarded to two graduating seniors, one male and one female, for Long Island students whose lives exemplify genuine character and promote the Scriptural values upon which our country was founded. Island Federal Credit Union Award Amount: up to $10,000 Deadline: April 20, 2018 Website: www.islandfcu.com Description: At Island Federal Credit Union, we recognize the growing cost of higher education. That’s why Island, one of Long Island’s leading credit unions, will award 11 high school seniors scholarships totaling $50,000. Requirements:   

A high school senior who lives or attends school on Long Island A holder of an Island checking/debit card account at the time entry is submitted Entry form available online at www.islandfcu.com or in the Guidance Department

B. Davis Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000 Deadline: May 22, 2018 Website: www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm Description: This scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post-secondary institution. Requirements:    

There is no age restriction Be sure to include your name and the school you are attending this year and next This is not an academic scholarship but we would like to know where you are going to school now and what your future academic plans are Please do not send transcripts or letters of recommendation at this time

Drone STEM Scholarship for High School Students Award Amount: Free access to Drone Pilot Ground School ($299), and the first 100 recipients will have their FAA exam fee of $150 covered, for a total value of approximately $450 Deadline: Rolling Basis Website: www.dronepilotgroundschool.com/scholarship/ Description: The High School STEM Scholarship for Aspiring Commercial Drone Pilots was created to support high school students ages 16 and up who are serious about learning how to fly drones commercially, and to support the use of drones to further the interest of high school students in STEM subjects. Requirements:     

Student must be at least 16 years old Student must be currently enrolled in high school Student must live in the U.S. Student must upload letter of support from an educator in their school Student must submit application and answer questions
