UPDATE ON ACHIEVEMENTS Operational Context SOMALILAND Since March 2015, 9,385 new arrivals (2,936 families) have arrived in Somaliland. These include 1,521 Yemenis, 7,723 Somalis, 109 Ethiopians, and 21 people of other nationalities. The number of new arrivals in Berbera, Somaliland, remains relatively low and no boat arrivals were recorded during the reporting period.

Achievements Protection PUNTLAND On 13 November 2015, Bossaso, Puntland, received one vessel, the “Fataxul-Khair”, arriving from Al Mukala port in Yemen. The vessel was carrying 86 individuals (22 children, 18 women, 46, men). The breakdown of nationalities as follows: 75 Somalis, 9 Yemenis, 1 Iraqi, 1 Syrian. Of these new arrivals, 34 did not require any assistance and left after Immigration procedures, while 52 were registered at the reception centre: 30 adults, 16 female and 14 male, and 22 children, 12 female and 10 male. Nationality breakdown as follows: 46 Somalis, 2 Yemenis, 4 others.

SOMALILAND There were no new arrivals in Somaliland during this reporting period. Hargeisa 

Between 9 and 15 November 2015, a total of 30 Yemeni refugees (20 cases) have been registered in Hargeisa by MRRR.



Also during the 9 - 15 November 2015 period, a total of 4 Yemeni asylum seekers (1 case) have been registered in Hargeisa by MRRR. These Yemenis had arrived in Somaliland before 28 March 2015.



A total of 2,252 Yemeni refugees (1,132 cases) have been registered in Hargeisa between 28 March 2015 and 15 November 2015.



A total of 63 Yemeni refugees (24 Cases) have been transferred from the UNHCR Bossaso data base to the UNHCR SO Hargeisa data base as of 15 November 2015.



A total of 2,322 Yemeni prima facie refugees (1,156 cases) have been registered with UNHCR SO Hargeisa as of 15 November 2015.

Health PUNTLAND Achievements and Impact 

Regarding the 13 October 2015 arrivals, UNHCR partner IOM sponsored a medical team that examined 21 individuals over the age of five and 14 children (6 female and 8 male) under the age of five. Of these, seven (3 females and 4 males) did not require further treatment.



In Bossaso, UNICEF through its partners identified a number of separated and unaccompanied minors (four boys). These UASC were offered psychosocial and material support and were reunited with relatives. Additionally, emergency medical and material support was provided to four children (two girls and two boys) and one woman.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION The Somalia Response Plan for Yemen Crisis (April – September 2015) was released on 4 June and shared with donors, governments and partners. 11 UN agencies and NGOs participate in the inter-agency response. The Response Plan can be accessed at http://goo.gl/pVH7da. Total funding received to date is USD 3.9 M (approximately 6% of total approved budget). Agencies are very grateful for the financial support provided by donors who have contributed to their activities with unearmarked and broadly earmarked funds as well as for those who have contributed directly to the situation: European Union | Italy | Japan | Sweden | United Kingdom | United States of America
