December brought us the worst weather in many years and quite difficult conditions in the Village. I know some of you got frustrated with what our Wardens did during this period but can I clearly state that: -

GRANT NEWS We are pleased to announce the following Grant Aid has been given recently: The Parish Council have been granted £30K by WLDC in respect of our MUGA Project (this could rise to £60K during the next 12 months. SAFC have been granted £1000 from Saxilby Sports Association to advance their Coaching qualifications for each of their Junior teams. Saxilby Strollers have been given a Grant of £150 by Cllr David Cotton from his WLDC Councillor Initiative Fund. SAFC have bee granted £350 by Cllr Jackie Brockway from her WLDC Councillor Initiative Fund for a Football Kit for the new Mixed U-7 team. The Parish Council are currently pursuing Grant applications with The Big Lottery, WREN and Community Council of Lincolnshire.

The Chair & the Vice-Chair who deals with external affairs have recently held discussions with Lincolnshire County Council as to the future of Saxilby Library. Clearly with major changes currently taking place it was felt that we needed to place a marker to say that we wanted to retain this facility within the Village and work to develop greater use through longer hours and more innovative uses. Whilst their Funding decisions will not be announced until

New Staff Member

We are pleased to announce that Lemon Tree Café is to join us at the Pavilion Bar as from 11th January. We will then be relaunching it as a new exciting Café Bar that is open all day every day for Tea & Coffee, wholesome Food, Sky Sports or your favorite tipple!

The Pavilion Bar is the ideal place and gives me the opportunity to continue with what we used to offer at Living Gardens. The added bonus is that we can now serve alcoholic drinks for those that want them in great surroundings” “It couldn't have been a better addition to my business”.

Annual Duck Race The Annual Duck Race took place this year in rather strange circumstances but this due to the amount of Ice that remained on the Canal. The Pavilion Bar was very busy for the afternoon and the Council congratulates the Football Club for continuing to promote this Event

We are a Parish Council who now manage this commercial enterprise where the profits are reinvested into Village facilities. You will be expected to manage the overall Facility; to work with our Catering Franchisee on day-to-day Food Service but also to develop our Function capability. You will be responsible for staffing, ordering and all areas of the service aspect. Thanks to our Farmers We want to thanks Leverton Farms and Skellingthorpe Farms for the assistance that they gave in clearing Snow areas during December. Without them the School couldn't have opened, certain places in the Village would have remained very difficult to get to. Many thanks for the help.

Cycle Path Update

Pavilion Café Bar

The Cycle Path is being completed slowly. The Road Crossing at the A57 Café will be started in the near future and then the Path through Burton Waters and along the Canal Towpath all the way to the Pyewipe Public House. It will have to come under the A46 where the Pyewipe Bridge is but you will soon be able to bike to Lincoln!!!

Village Manager Blog For the month of January the Wardens will be tidying up the Burial Ground, inserting some new kerbing stones, weeding the Memorial Garden and sweeping. Other jobs include work to Mill Lane Pavilion and workshop which suffered a burst water pipe over the Xmas period, together with general tidying throughout the Village.
