COMING EVENTS

October is a significant month for our Church. During this month we celebrate World Mission and it is also the month of the Rosary. World Mission month is celebrated every year in countries wherever there are Catholics committed to building a better world for all of God's people, a world where everyone has all they need to live a dignified and fulfilling life. Missionary activity is a response to the love with which God loves us. God's love is the spiritual energy that can make harmony; justice and communion grow among persons, races and peoples for which everyone is searching. It is God, who is Love, who leads the Church towards those furthest away and calls us to be renewed from the original source, Jesus Christ. Pope Francis has spoken about mission and this can be found at: https:// www.cm.org.au/WMM2017/secondary--pope-francis--wmd-message.html. On Friday the Year 1 students not only entertained us with their assembly but given October is World Mission month, they decided to incorporate SOCKTOBER- Sock it to poverty, an initiative of Catholic Mission, to their day. We all wore crazy socks and as a result, we raised $490 for Catholic Mission. October is also the Month of the Rosary. The Rosary is the traditional devotion in honour of the Mother of God, combining vocal and mental prayer. It is composed of 15 decades which are divided into 3 parts of 5 decades, each of which recall Our Lord's Life, Passion, and Glory. Further information about the Rosary can be found at: http://www.catholic-kids.com/ rosary.htm.

2018 SCHOOL BUS PASSES Students who had a bus pass for 2017, and are returning to St Anne’s next year, should automatically receive a new pass for 2018, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria. (Previously, children moving from Year 2 to Year 3 had to re-apply for a bus pass, however this is no longer necessary.) Applications for travel for children who have not previously had a bus pass should be made before the end of this year. Applications are made online at https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/applyNow Students whose entitlement was approved under a medical condition, will receive notification by email or post informing them of the pending expiry of their entitlement. Parents enquiring about pending cancellation are advised to go online to https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updateDetails to update details/make application for next year’s entitlement. Application needs to be made before 31 December 2017 to ensure their entitlement is updated and their current card is not cancelled. If application is made after the expiry of their entitlement (31 December) the system will automatically cancel their card and a new one will need to be issued.

Did you know...there are only 61 days until Christmas!

At the beginning of this term, our Year 5 students travelled to Sovereign Hill, Ballarat, for an overnight excursion. Our students had lots of fun travelling back in time to explore the Australian goldfields of the 1850’s.
