Integration and Speed With the rapid evolution of the medical imaging technologies and the increase of WSI, the management of such huge amounts of data had become a challenge. Both due to the size and complexity (metadata). Kanteron’s PathPACS objective is to offer ease-of-use, high performance, the highest security, stability, interoperability, and affordability, for the distribution, access, and storage of the digital medical image.

vices platforms. As individual components, every QLogic SANbox delivers the advantages of a best-in-class product. Working together as an intelligent network solution, they are easy to deploy and administrator and they make your SAN perform better, too. That’s why the entire QLogic SANbox line won the Windows IT Pro “Readers Choice” award. For your switched fabric, you can count on QLogic for exactly the right switch…from the core, to the distribution layer, to the edge. For low-cost local and remote server connectivity, QLogic Intelligent Storage Routers boost utilization while driving down cost and complexity. And for storage virtualization, the QLogic Storage Services Platform offers network-based command and control of your heterogeneous storage. By virtualizing storage from within the fabric, you greatly simplify management. More importantly, you ensure an open environment that can accommodate multiple vendors, new solutions and future flexibility.

Web interface: offers a robust user interface through any web browser, both to system administrators and authorized users. DICOM Storage: acts as storage, capable of storing any kind of DICOM object in standard filesystems, with compression if necessary. DICOM Query/Retrieve: queries and retrieves the DICOM objects storage. Other DICOM services: such as MPPS, GPWL, MWL, Worklist management and creation, notifies studies’ availability and content, CD/DVD, hanging protocols, structured DICOM reports (SR)... WADO and RID: web access (each image has a unique URL) to the images. Zero-footprint web viewer with tools for measurements, notes, etc. HL7 Server: manages ADT, ORM and ORU messages. IHE Services: integration of registry and repository through XDS/XDSI with environments managed as RIS/HIS, acting like a secure node and allowing for a complete auditing. Media auditing (ARR): establishes media access auditing. Who, when, to what, etc.

Kanteron PathPACS uses open source tools and standards to assure integration, and an innovative strategy based on videogame industry approaches (sub-file categorization) and satellite image mechanisms (area-region pyramidal structure) to manage very large files in real time.

Objectives

Without restrictions: not subjected to restrictive licenses regarding the number of users, authorized machines, number of studies, number of images, number of connexions, etc. Multiformat: allows the storage of practically all kinds of objects (.scn, .svs, .jpg, .tiff, .vms, .vmu, .mrx, .dcm...) and makes them compatible with the DICOM standard including the new supplements 122 & 145, so it integrates directly with pre-existing systems. Multiplataform: it can be run virtually in any platform. Once compiled it can be executed in any operating system (Windows, GNULinux or Mac Os X). Integration in a preexisting IT infrastructure: since it is based on standard and well known databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, etc), and formats, the backup capacity is as easy as copying directories (in the case of Postgres and MySQL) besides, it facilitates the integration with any preexistent radiology or hospital information system. DICOM Server: it allows other PACS or workstations to query, retrieve or store DICOM studies (if authorized). The complete management incorporated in its web interface allows a quick and easy management of the workstations authorized to connect to Kanteron PathPACS. PACS Server: manages a database that keeps the patient list, samples, stations, etc, as well as each patients’ studies, their structured reports and worklists. Storage: only limited by the hardware on which it runs, which can be virtually infinite if installed with a SAN controller and/or via cloud. Web access: easy and powerful web interface, both for administrators and users. At the same time, Kanteron Systems has developed a zero-footprint viewer, which can be fitted to each installation needs, and allows access to the images generated automatically by the PathPACS or PathBOX. This way, images can be accessed in a much faster way, and from any workstation. Report generation: in PDF and HTML format with its corresponding key images in the report.

Kanteron Systems has developed a novel approach by which WSI, PACS, LIS, DICOM or non-DICOM, DICOM SR, EHR, and other systems can be integrated, via standards (HL7, DICOM) and with open source tools, through zero-footprint viewers online via web and/or cloud.

Per-frame header

Auditing and access control and administration: eases user management and establishes different roles and permissions for each one, with a full auditing system regarding who and when accesses which studies, meeting HIPPA provisions. User interface through web access: has an intuitive web interface for managing the PACS and DICOM’s servers tools. Multiplatform zero-footprint viewer, application and web: Kanteron Systems has developed a multiplatform light viewer. This viewer allows navigating images and basic tools. Multiple transfer syntax and compression kinds: from image without compression, to lossless and lossy compression. Ideal for saving space, with all detail, when finished working with images. Selective Query/Retrieve: allows querying based on different criteria, non exclusive, for sending to the corresponding workstation, or querying from the workstation itself. Automatic or on-demand autorouting of studies: Allows the design and implementation of study distribution strategies as soon as they are received, achieving a distributed and fault-tolerant PACS. From the user interface studies can also be selected and sent to the workstations configured in the list. This way, daily workflows can be configured, or in emergency situations the study can be directed to the right workstation. DICOM Server: DICOM node that allows the sending and retrieving of studies. Multiple DICOM node management: allows configuring multiple DICOM nodes. As many as needed. Without limits, licenses, or extra costs. CD recording with DICOMDIR: the selected studies can be recorded in a CD with a single click. Structured report: uses the standard Structured Report (DICOM SR). It also generates the report in PDF and HTML formats with the corresponding key images in the report. Multiple worklist management: supports multiple worklistswith their corresponding control consoles. Performance and scalability: unprecedented scalability. With SAN, virtually unlimited storage capacity.
