Technology Lead Company Profile: Samhita collaborates with companies to develop impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. We shape strategies, design programs, facilitate implementation, and assess the impact of projects. We also work with foundations and donor agencies to bring multiple stakeholders together to address critical social issues collectively and on a large scale. Our core technology platform, Samhita GoodCSR, revolutionizes the execution and monitoring of social sector projects. GoodCSR has been developed in collaboration with Collective Good Foundation (CGF) and is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Tata Trusts. We also work closely with CGF to provide comprehensive project management solutions in sectors such as healthcare, education, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), and women’s empowerment. The Technology Lead is a product development expert responsible for the design and construction of software solutions. Leading a team of software engineers, you will design and develop web & mobile applications using Python, Django, PHP, HTML, and open source platforms like Visual Studio & sublime text. Samhita is looking for someone who will be responsible for the following activities: Job Description: 1. In partnership with the company's founders, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services as a web based business 2. Identify technology trends and evolving social behaviour that may support or impede the success of the business 3. Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks and the deployment stack) for delivering the company's services 4. Timely development and successful execution of company's product during the initial phases of growth, this requires envisioning the company's service offerings as a mobile/web based business, developing back end processing server, coordinating its handshake with the front end client and planning for risk and growth 5. Lead the product development from a technical standpoint and design the technical architecture, create and deliver specifications for software development and requirements for systems integration 6. Develop, track, and control the development and deployment annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations 7. Own up the design, development, integration and unit testing efforts for the product 8. Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organisation's investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders with regard to the company's technological vision, opportunities, and challenges 9. Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organisation of all development staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements Technical Skills required: 1. Expertise in managing and directing website technical structure, design and aesthetics, navigation, information architecture, performance 2. Good understanding of complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) 3. Experience in the design and development of web applications using Python, Django, PHP, XML, and open source platforms like Visual Studio & sublime text
4. Good understanding of OOPs concepts in PHP, Object Oriented Design (OOAD), Design Patterns, MVC 5. Developing in MVC Architecture and deploying applications on LAMP and WAMP stacks, Apache 6. Ideally, you should also have experience with the following languages & APIs - PHP, XML, SOAP, SQL, HTML, CSS, Java Script, JQuery, AJAX, Rest, Objective - C, Swift, Ruby 7. Development Tools - Easy Ecilipse for PHP, Edit Plus, Notepad++, PsPad Editor, NetBeans 8. Frameworks & Opensource – Visual Studio, Magento, Zend, OsCommerce, CakePHP 9. Databases - MySQL, Oracle, SQL, MongoDB Non-Technical Skills required: 1. Hands on coder at heart. You like hard problems, but know how to keep things simple. 2. Would love to do more coding yourself, but accept that you can bring most value by helping others to excel. 3. Should have built large scale applications with modern web frameworks, ideally PHP. 4. Should be able to deal with (and ideally limit) lots of complexity. 5. Should be a fast thinker, hands on manager and strong communicator; think and act like an entrepreneur 6. Should know agile. Not just from books. Should know how to do fast release cycles without compromising on quality 7.
