Television Broadcasts China (TVBC) Unveils TVB red-hot artistes added glamour to the event and witnessed TVBC establishing an influential Chinese-speaking world (Hong Kong – 27 December 2012) Press Conference on the launch of Television Broadcasts China (TVBC) was held successfully in Beijing on 27 December. Honorable guests attending the press conference included Mr Li Rui Gang, Chairman of China Media Capital (CMC) and Television Broadcasts China (TVBC), Mr Cheong Shin Keong, General Manager of Broadcasting Division of TVB, Mr Jin Zhong Bo, CEO of TVBC and Ms Cheng Suet Fei, CFO of TVBC. Led by Ms Virginia Lok, Controller of Production Resources Division of TVB, Lai Yiu Cheung and Tavia Yeung, “Best Lead Actor and Actress” of TV Awards Presentation 2012, as well as Myolie Wu and Kevin Cheng, “Best Lead Actor and Actress” of TV Awards Presentation 2011, joined the event to celebrate the birth of TVBC. With the media’s participation, the birth of this joint-venture, TVBC, was finally announced to the public.
TVBC is established on 8 August this year by three investors, namely Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), China Media Capital (CMC), and Shanghai Media Group (SMG). TVBC targets several business areas in China, including advertising, program licensing, artiste management and production, and to name a few. It is regarded as TVB’s strategic approach to expand its business footprint in the China market; it is also an imperative opportunity for different Chinese media to cross the border through the joint venture. With our experienced business team and broadcasting channels in the mainland, TVBC will help to promote rich Chinese culture, high quality program production and high quality artistes.
Being the first free-to-air and the most influential terrestrial television operator in Hong Kong, TVB has contributed to the success of the drama production in the television industry.
Since its inception, TVB has
provided the audience with a multitude of famous dramas, including Shanghai Tan, The Legend of Condor Heroes, The Greed of Man and At the Threshold of an Era, War and Beauty, Heart of Greed drama series, Rosy Business drama series, and to name but a few.
During the 45-year development, TVB has expanded its business worldwide, for instance, program production, telecast and video licensing, channel licensing, pay television channels, music, movies and publications. TVB also maintains one of the most professional production teams in the world, which is comprised of experienced executive producers, script writers, artistes and other production crews. As to intensify the influence of TVB dramas in order to attract more mainland viewers, TVB has already shot

their dramas in China and developed long-term partnership with China television stations. In addition, mainland media are often invited to participate in publicity events organized by TVB. The unveiling of TVBC marks an important milestone for the new entertainment era, as its birth symbolizes a significant cooperation between the entertainment industry in Hong Kong and in China for a more prosperous development of the television industry. China Media Capital (CMC) is the first China investor that is dedicated to investment on China’s culture and media sector. In April 2009, CMC is registered and approved by China’s National Development and Reform Commission with RMB 5 billion in assets under management. It puts its focus on providing financing opportunities for companies with relatively larger enterprise values. At the same time, by their strong and unique investor base, CMC constructs international platforms that aim of supporting China media sectors to invest across the borders and spread Chinese culture.
One of the investors of TVBC, Shanghai Media Group (SMG), is the second most influential television station in China. With similar historical background and economic status shared between Shanghai and Hong Kong, the joint venture, TVBC, is believed to be the perfect representation of the remarkable partnership between SMG and TVB. Mr Jin Zhong Bo, CEO of Television Broadcasts China as well as Vice President of SMG, has worked as Executive Director of Ad. Sales & Business Center since 2006 and has been managing the company’s advertising business. During this period, SMG’s advertising revenue grows from RMB30 billion in 2005 to RMB70 billion in 2011. Utilizing his resources management skill, eagerness to take initiative to satisfy market demand, international exposure and solid track record in building relationships with mainland partners, Mr Jin is believed to well-nurture TVBC into another successful and innovative incorporation company.
With right place, right resources and right timing, TVBC will undoubtedly accomplish the goals of inheriting Chinese entertainment culture, presenting Chinese lives and establishing the most influential Chinese media in the world. Let’s look forward to its progressive future!
