Our attendance winners for the first half term are...

4B Congratulations to all the children in 4B who have worked so hard to improve their attendance! You will be having a special treat which will be revealed in next Friday’s assembly!

BOOK FAIR REMINDER A reminder that the Book Fair is in school next week and is open for parents/carers to visit with their children before and after school every day except Friday. We would be very happy to hear from anyone who can lend a hand for a short time before or after school.

REMEMBRANCE POPPIES FOR SALE A reminder that Poppies are available from the school office. We suggest a minimum donation of 20p - every penny you give to the Poppy Appeal will help to support Service people, veterans and their families.

CHOIR NEWS Our choir visited St. Columba’s Church on Tuesday to sing to the community. A lovely way to start the new half term- it was enjoyed by all! On the 23rd November the choir will be taking part in the spectacular ‘Angels of the North’ concert at the Sage in Gateshead. It promises to be a truly magical experience. Anyone wishing to buy tickets for the concert are able to do so directly from the Sage Box Office on 0191 443 4661 or by visiting the Sage website: http://www.sagegateshead.com/your-visit/visiting-coming-to-an-event/ticket-office/

PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCY UPDATE I am pleased to be able to tell you that Mrs Rosalind Beha has been elected as a new parent governor. Congratulations to Rosalind, we are delighted to welcome her to the leadership team.

CHILDREN IN NEED

Children in Need is happening in school on Friday 13th November. After speaking with the school council, the children have decided our theme this year will be ‘dotty and spotty with teddies!’ This means children are invited wear something spotty or dotty or something that is teddy bear related – they may wish to bring in a teddy of their own! We are asking for a contribution of £1 per child or £2 per family that will go directly to the children in need appeal.

COLD WEATHER CLOTHING The weather is definitely changing as winter approaches. Please could you remind children to wear their coats to school, so that they will be warm and comfortable at playtimes and lunchtimes. Boots are permitted as school footwear, as long as they are black, flat and suitable to be worn for long periods (wellies or Ugg boots are not designed for a whole day in school).

NEW PRE-SCHOOL BUILDING OPENING Those of you with children in Nursery would have been amongst the first to take a look inside our fabulous new nursery and pre-school building. All the staff have been working really hard to make it an exciting place to learn- we think they have done a brilliant job! Our new pre-school building is now home to Greenfields nursery, our nursery wrap-around provision and our 2-year old pre-school. We also now have the space and provision to provide parental support groups, health visitor drop-ins, amongst other services. Watch this space to find out more!

FINALLY . . . You may have noticed that Mrs Taylor, our Headteacher, has not been out on the playground this week, before and after school as usual. This is because she injured her wrist at the weekend and has had to have an operation to fix it. She will be back as soon as possible and is looking forward to seeing lots of Personal Bests waiting for her. In the meantime, Mrs Taylor is working on getting her own Personal Best for learning how to write with her left hand! Mrs Linda Taylor Headteacher p.s.
