162 Saint Viator students received National recognition on the Spanish Language National exam 22 Saint Viator students received National recognition on the Italian Language National exam The Saint Viator Academic Team competed in the WYSE regional competition with 16 students earning 15 medals, sweeping the Biology and English categories. The team advanced to the WYSE State finals after five students finished at the top of their subjects at sectionals. At State one student placed 3rd in computer science and one placed 4th in biology. The Saint Viator Math Team competed in the State Math Contest. The team placed 9th out of 49 teams, with four students taking 1st place awards. Two Viator Voice editors competed at the first IHSA State Journalism Competition. One took the State Championship in Headline Writing and the other finished 5th in Photo Storytelling. One graduating senior’s short film was named an official selection finalist in the 2016 All American High School Film Festival. One graduating senior won first place in the Arlington Heights VFW Post “Voice of Democracy” essay contest. One graduating senior’s poem was featured in the National Poetry Quarterly and the Winter Anthology published by the American High School Poets’ Society. 7 seniors earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the Boy Scouts of America’s highest honor. 2 seniors won the Elk Grove Fallen Soldier Memorial Scholarship
