REWIND: MZHS FOOTBALL During halftime of the Trion game on October 21st, the MZHS 2016 homecoming queen and king were announced. Hailey Denney was a crowned as Queen and Jace Jordan was declared as our King (talk about goals!). And the Eagles beat Trion (31 -24), making this the 3rd year in a row that we’ve beaten them and extending our record to 8-0! After this game, the football team’s record was bumped up to 9-0 after beating Christian Heritage 41 to 0! It is safe to say that our Eagle boys were

on Cloud 9. The following Friday was celebrated as our last home game of the regular football season. In the end, this game was a loss, but our Eagles gave all they had. We are 9-1 and are now in the 5th seed of the playoffs, which is amazing and our community could not be more proud. By: Brianna Kirkland

NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETY

MZ GETS SPOOKY FOR HALLOWEEN

For the first time in Mt. Zion History, select Seniors were honored as members of the National Honor Society. By maintaining at least a 3.75 GPA all throughout high school, thirty seniors were awarded a spot and will be adorned by a cord at graduation. Our counselor, Mrs. Fjeran, sponsored what will hopefully become a new tradition for seniors. Student who earned the award deserve a round of applause for their continuous hard work. Congratulations!

In carrying on tradition of our annual Trunk or Treat, students, staff, and Mount Zion community members got together on Halloween night for an evening of safe holiday fun. Club members and sponsors worked hard to creatively decorate trunks to promote their organizations. Eager kids lined up to receive candy, get their faces painted, and even play basketball! Everyone involved had a blast joining together outside of the classroom to share laughs and great costumes. We had an amazing turn out at the event and are looking forward to having more clubs and more people attend in the future!

POETRY OF THE WEEK A Simple Audition High school is certainly a complex condition. It starts off as a simple audition. Right from the hello you're instantly judged. Followed by pressure and repeatedly nudged. Plenty of homework to polish each skill. Some of your friends just want you to chill.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK: FANCYROSE PARTIN (JUNIOR)

IT’S THE FINAL COUNT DOWN All of the seniors that participate in football, marching band and cheerleading were recognized November 4th before the Fellowship Christian game. These members were escorted onto the field with their families by their side. They were recognized for their accomplishments and accolades. Their post-high school plans were announced, hinting towards to end of this chapter of their lives. Some seniors were emotional, while others were preparing themselves for the last regular season home game. The students received gifts from their coaches and red roses were given to their mothers. It’s undeniable that we all love our SENIORS! We wish them the best of luck as they begin to close this chapter of fall sports for the last time and prepare to fly from Mount Zion’s nest this coming May. By: Raquel Thomas & Brianna Kirkland

“Stick to your values”, you personally vowed. With patience and time you'll locate your crowd. Try to remember it's just a few years. No point of spilling all of those tears. High school is certainly a complex condition. Keep it real, and finish your mission Written by: Autum Parker (Senior)

THIS POEM SERVES AS AN EXCELLENT REFLECTION OF HIGH SCHOOL! WHAT BETTER WAY TO RECEIVE ADVICE ON HOW TO SURVIVE THESE 4 YEARS FROM ANYONE BUT A SENIOR? - RT
