LECTURER: EMERGENCY MEDICINE T2 (5 Year Contract) Department of Surgery Faculty of Health Sciences The Division of Emergency Medicine seeks to appoint a Lecturer to co-ordinate and convene the PhD Emergency Medicine Programme. This is a full time, five year contract post with the potential to becoming a permanent position if demonstrable positive impact and outputs. Responsibilities include developing and co-ordinating the PhD programme, co-ordinating and assisting with the administration of the PhD programme, mentoring of postgraduate students in the division, assisting the Division to improve research outputs, and teaching across the divisional programmes. Requirements include: Qualification registerable with a professional healthcare board in South Africa (HPCSA, SANC etc.) as a health care provider Completed or within 6 months of completing PhD and minimum 5 years’ experience in clinical emergency care Excellent interpersonal abilities Excellent written and verbal communication Strong Computer Skills (Word, Excel, e-mail and calendar programs, PowerPoint, etc.) Advantageous: Demonstrable history of scientific publications. Demonstrable experience in post-graduate supervision. Responsibilities include: Developing and coordination of the PhD Emergency Medicine programme including establishing an academic quality assurance programme for monitoring and evaluation Liaison with faculty to ensure smooth administration of the PhD programme and appropriate progression of students Mentoring (including research supervision and co-supervision) of post-graduate students in the Division of Emergency Medicine Assisting the Division to improve Research outputs including conducting own research. Clinical service commitments as determined by the Head of Division of Emergency Medicine. Teaching of post-graduate students across the divisional programmes.
