U.S. Citizens are Mobilizing to Donate to Colorado Wildfire Relief. Denver, CO June 14, 2013—Every summer, Colorado firefighters brace to combat wildfires blown out of control by dry temperatures and heavy winds. This summer is no different, as several wildfires rage throughout the state; damaging homes and leaving thousands holding their breath to see if their homes will make it. Fires, including the black forest fire, are eerily familiar to those that claimed more than 100,000 acres in the state last year. For the victims of Colorado wildfires, the fastest way to help is to use your mobile phone to donate to Colorado wildfire victims. Text FIRE to 27722 to give $10 to the mGive Colorado Relief Fund. Funds will be distributed to organizations providing support in the areas affected by the Colorado wildfires. A list of supporting organizations can be found on the State of Colorado’s www.helpcoloradonow.org website. “In any natural disaster, the fastest way to lend support is with a text donation to The American Red Cross,” said Jenifer Snyder, executive director of The mGive Foundation. “They are the experts in getting immediate recovery support to those affected by the wildfires, or any disaster. mGive is the expert in making sure text donations get to their intended recipients as quickly as possible with no fraud and no red tape.” The mGive Foundation is the leader in the text donation industry processing 85 percent of all mobile donations. mGive invented the mobile channel for social good and has the technology platform and expertise to handle the outpouring of text donations during any and all disasters. mGive also provides the technology for hundreds of text campaigns for nonprofits, large and small, that need to mobilize support in non‐disaster situations. mGive helps raise money, volunteers, in‐kind resources and advocacy. “Mobile makes the U.S. one community—ensuring the victims of a wildfire in Colorado, or cancer victims in any town can be helped like a neighbor next‐door. We all can be everyday philanthropists with four easy clicks, from the mobile device that’s probably not more than a few inches from our finger tips anyway,” said Snyder. $2 million was raised in 20 hours as people from all over the U.S. texted donations for victims of the Oklahoma tornado. Since the Oklahoma tornado, $4.1 million has been raised through the nonprofits who are running mobile campaigns through mGive. “Our experience is that people want to give immediately when they see a need—caused by a disaster or any social issue. There’s no quicker, easier, safer way than with a mobile donation. In any situation, mGive’s role is to make sure our mobile technology runs flawlessly so that donation pledges are processed quickly, allowing each of us to save the world one text at a time,” said Snyder. $10.00 donation to mGive Colorado Relief Fund.
