Child Development Centers
The Army provides care in a Multi-Age group setting. The concept of the Multi-Age classroom is to provide a Family-style environment where the children learn from and nurture each other. Children experience fewer transitions while in the Multi-Age childcare setting, giving them more time to bond with their primary caregiver. Children also benefit widely from interacting with classmates who are older and younger. They learn important principles of citizenship, relationships, respect, patience, and self-esteem. Utilizing a creative curriculum, our approach balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children’s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests.
School Support Services (SSS) SSS develops partnerships with local schools and community organizations to help ensure a positive educational experience for military children and youth. SSS also collaborates with parents and schools to ensure academic success. New to the area? Let SSS help you navigate the local school system, procedures, programs, and schedules. Hearts Apart
It is inevitable that throughout a Service Member’s career one will be separated from their Families. In some cases, Families choose to move to areas closer to Family and friends. Others, however, decide to remain in housing or stay in the immediate area until the service member completes his/her unaccompanied tour. Regardless of the circumstance, these types of separations can become quite overwhelming, particularly because Families are left behind without the support network and regular contact that a unit Family Readiness Group (FRG) would otherwise provide. To respond to the needs of our Families, Army Community Service has established the Hearts Apart program. Hearts Apart is a Support Group for Waiting Spouses. This program offers various activities for those that have a Service Member deployed, is TDY or serving on any type of Unaccompanied Tour. It provides the opportunity to share common concerns, ask questions, as well as participate in social activities. If you would like to learn more about the Hearts Apart program and upcoming events, please call 785-239-9435.
