PURCHASE OPTIONS FOR MATH 2200 AT UGA COURSE MATERIALS: TEXT : Larson & Edwards, Calculus of a Single Variable, Early Transcendental Functions, 5th Ed, Brooks/Cole. The UGA edition is ISBN-10 1-133-22873-8 or ISBN-13 978-1-133-22873-8 (the old UGA edition is ISBN-10 1-111-77277-0 or ISBN13 978-1-111-77277-2 and it is fine to use except missing index and exercise solutions) but you may use the original hard cover (bigger) ISBN-10 0-538-73552-X or ISBN-13 978-0-538-73552-0 UGA custom edition is titled: Calculus with Analytics. 1. Hard copy: The UGA edition of the text is available from the bookstore $117.00). This comes with the access code for WebAssign shrinkwrapped. (The used text lists at less and then you would buy the access code, below, which often totals more money.) You can search for and purchase the larger (more $) original hard cover edition elsewhere (and you need an access code). The BEST DEAL is to purchase the hardbook and WebAssign access code bundled together from the microsite provided by Cengage below ($104.99 and free shipping) or at the bookstore ($117.00 above). The Cengage microsite (below) offers the custom UGA edition ALONE at a discount, but why would you buy that, you need the WebAssign too. 2. Electronic copies. WebAssign offers ebook plus HW access. BUT, why would you do that—you can read the book online in WebAssign Homework for free once you have an access code. 3. Reading the text in WebAssign: in each HW set (except Appendix F), you can choose “read it” on a number of problems, and that will take you to an electronic copy of that particular section of the text. Appendix F is posted as a pdf file in WebAssign for those of you purchasing versions of the text other than the UGA custom (hardcopy) text. 4. “Lifetime of Edition Access” is added on for free when you buy from either the bookstore or access through the Cengage microsite (so a really SUPER DEAL). You can also buy Lifetime of edition access for extra $ for the book and/or the HW directly within Webassign, at a higher charge. This means if you drop the course this term and have paid for your access, it is carried over to a future term (no additional cost). This access is NOT transferable to another student. Best advice: do lots of HW, study, and pass the course on one try. WEBASSIGN: the homework is delivered through WebAssign. The webpage is www.webassign.net . You have two weeks to pay for this service after the date of start of the term and it is recommended that you WAIT a class until you are sure you want to take Math 2200 before paying. 1. You can pay by credit card within WebAssign ($47) OR purchase an access code from the microsite provided by Cengage below ($47.00). Cengage offers lifetime of edition access (which costs $75 in WebAssign). At the microsite, you are buying: “Enhanced WebAssign Homework Only LOE Printed Access Card for One-Term Math and Science” 2. DO NOT BUY AN INDIVIDUAL ACCESS CODE FROM THE UGA BOOKSTORE. Those codes are for Precalculus and do NOT work for Math 2200. It is the right access card if shrinkwrapped on the textbook, not ok if it is on its own, for bookstore products. CENGAGE MICROSITE FOR PURCHASE OPTIONS: if you go to the Cengage microsite to take advantage of their discounted prices, please be sure you are staying in the course, as refunds will not be available. Don’t wait more than a week to purchase access codes. Webpage http://www.cengagebrain.com/micro/UGA-Math2200Calculus
