About Your Transit System

The Government of Canada offers a non-refundable tax credit if you use a monthly pass. Save your passes and receipts as proof of purchase. Visit www.cra.gc.ca

A transfer allows travel for the next connecting bus. A transfer cannot be used for a return trip. Request a transfer when you board and pay your fare. Show your transfer to the driver, face up, with time showing.

Funding for the Whistler Transit System is cost shared between the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and BC Transit. Decisions on fares, routes and service levels are made by the RMOW Council based on public feedback and information provided by BC Transit. Buses are operated by Whistler Transit Ltd.

Be Safe and Be Seen

The BC Bus Pass Program is offered by the Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation. It offers an annual bus pass for low income seniors and individuals receiving disability assistance from the Province of British Columbia. The pass is valid for the eligible rider on any fixed-route transit service. The pass is non-transferable.

If you are a seasonal transit rider, the 6-month pass or 12-month pass is valid from the first day you buy it. It can be purchased at the Municipal Hall (4325 Blackcomb Way).

Food and Beverages

Bikes

To keep buses clean and safe, any food or drink you bring on board must be in a closed container that is spillproof. Coffee and other beverages can be consumed on board provided the beverage is carried in a sturdy container with a lid that will prevent the liquid from spilling. Open alcohol is not permitted on the bus.

Please note that bike space is limited and cannot be guaranteed. Electric and gas-powered bikes can’t be transported on the bike racks. For safety reasons, standard bikes can’t be transported inside the bus. Folding bikes in their protective carry case, which can be placed without obstructing the aisle, will be permitted on the bus.

Transit drivers can contact local police, ambulance and other emergency services. Transit drivers are also trained to assist a child or adult in need. Tell the driver if you are concerned about your safety. BC Transit’s safety and security practices uphold the British Columbia Transit Act and the B.C. Motor Vehicle Act.

Only small fur-bearing and feathered pets contained in secure, clean, hand-held cages are permitted on the bus. Cages (hard or soft shell) must be small enough to fit on the owner’s lap.

When wheelchair positions are occupied or required by another customer or if the bus is not a low floor bus, please store your folded stroller between seats. Hold on to your child at all times.

Sometimes it is difficult for transit drivers to see you at bus stops, especially along unlit roads. Wear lightcoloured clothing, wear a reflective strip or use a flashlight or light from your mobile phone to signal the driver that you are at the stop.

Family Travel Program

**

An adult customer using a valid Whistler transit system pass can bring up to three children (12 years and under) on board for free. Children must board and alight at the same stop as the pass-carrying customer. The program is available to parents and guardians who are 19 years or over with a valid Adult DayPASS, a Monthly, 6-month, or 12-month Pass or a BC Bus Pass. This program does not apply to cash fares and tickets.

Extra service is provided during school winter vacation (Dec. 18, 2015 – Jan. 4, 2016) as well as Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 18, 2016), Family Day (Feb. 8, 2016), Presidents’ Day (Feb. 15, 2016) and Easter Monday (Mar. 28, 2016).
