Established in 1947, BVBCET has achieved an enviable status due to a strong emphasis on academic and technical excellence. From a modest beginning when the college offered only an Undergraduate program in civil engineering, the college has indeed come a long way. Currently college offers 12 UG and 8 PG programs affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and is recognized by AICTE, New Delhi and accredited by NBA. Current annual student intake for Undergraduate & Post Graduate programmes is in excess of 1200. The faculty consists of extremely qualified and dedicated academicians whose commitment to education and scholarly activities has resulted into college gaining Autonomous Status from the University and UGC. The college has adopted Outcome Based Education (OBE) framework to align the curriculum to the needs of the industry and the society. Innovative pedagogical practices in the teaching learning processes form the academic eco system of the institution. The active involvement of faculty in research has led to the recognition of 8-research centers by the University.

ABOUT NWMPC -2013

TECHNICAL CONTENT

Over the past few years GPU’s have evolved into highly generalized parallel processors that can be applied to a wide range of computational problems. Impressive performance increases have been observed using GPU’s in many computationally intensive applications in the areas of astrophysics simulation, pattern and sequence matching, 3D imaging and many more. This workshop and discussion forum aims to provide a detailed introduction to GPU computing with CUDA and massively parallel computing solutions. Talks will range from demonstrating application capability of GPU’s all the way down to basic programming. Various experts from industry and academia will present and provide the latest information on their work & other GPU and parallel computing topics. The workshop will also include presentations on background of Parallel Computing strategies and Power issues on Parallel Processors. An introduction to the CUDA architecture, programming model, and the programming environment of C for CUDA, as well as an overview of the Tesla GPU architecture, a live programming demo, and strategies for optimizing CUDA applications for the GPU will also be covered.

• Introduction to Parallel Computing and Massively Parallel Computing • Power Issues in parallel Systems • GPU Computing and CUDA Basics • GPU Architectures and Optimization of CUDA programs with hands on experience. • OpenCl and Webcl • Domain Specific applications on Massively Parallel Computing / Parallel Computing from different industry experts and sectors.

INVITED SPEAKERS
