The approximate recording capacity is calculated by using the following formula:
Data size for 1 second of motion images (images only), Data format: MPEG-4
Resolution (dots) MPEG-4 bit rate* The approximate recording capacity is calculated by using the following formula: 640 x 480 768 Kbps MPEG-4 bit rate (Kbps)/8 bits x time (sec). 320 x 240 384 Kbps Example 194 x 144 128 Kbps • The calculation for 640 x 480 resolution images at an MPEG-4 bit rate of 768 Kbps is as follows: 768 Kbps/8 bits x 3,600 seconds (1 hour) = *MPEG-4 bit rate: This depends on the 345,600 KB 337.5 MB value set at the camera for MPEG-4 bit rate for image distribution. •In case of images with voices, 4 KB is added per each second: 345,600 KB + 4 KB x 3,600 sec = 360,000 KB 352 MB
Size (KB) x Frame rate (images/sec) x Recording time (sec) Example • The calculation for a 1-hour recording of 640 x 480 resolution images at a frame rate of 5 images/sec in Favor Clarity mode is as follows: 50 KB x 5 images/sec x 3,600 sec (1 hour) = 900,000 KB 879MB •In case of images with voices, 4 KB is added per each second: 900,000 KB + 4 KB x 3,600 sec = 914,400 KB 893 MB

Zero Distance Manag ement brings other opportunities to your business. Contents
With the growing use of Internet and broadband communications, the unique monitoring characteristics of IP network cameras are creating new business opportunities, and a new type of monitoring market is beginning to emerge. IP cameras, also known as network cameras, can be installed virtually anywhere, including stores, offices, schools and factories, and by connecting them to an IP network such as the Internet or LAN, remote monitoring can be conducted from anywhere, anytime.
Sample applications An example of what a network camera lets you do.
What's a network camera? A description of the flow from shooting to controlling.
Network camera features A detailed description of each function.
Optional software Increasing recording accuracy.
Optional system equipment Monitoring with a TV.
By reducing the limiting effect of distance to as close to '0' as possible, businesses can use IP camera systems to reap significant savings in terms of travel time, labor costs, and operating efficiency, and can improve communications and customer service. Panasonic has applied this new technology to develop what we call "Zero Distance Management." This system allows us to offer a wide range of solutions directly related to your business, and can help to create new opportunities for business expansion. We invite you to take a closer look at how network cameras and Zero Distance Management can help your company achieve new growth.

Sample applications
Sample applications
1. We want to be able to quickly grasp what's happening inside the store. 2. We want to develop strategies for dealing with any troubles that arise. 3. We want to use it to help train our staff (store manager candidates). 4. We want to ensure safety and reliability.
The unique remote monitoring and remote control features of network cameras make them useful not only for conventional monitoring purposes, but also as a new type of business tool. We would like to show you how network cameras can help businesses to increase their operational efficiency, reduce costs, and provide new services.
Zero Distance Management solutions 1. I was always concerned about what was happening at the store when I was away, but now I can easily monitor the situation from my office or home. When I have to go elsewhere on business I can still monitor the store by cell phone, so now I no longer even have to make phone calls except when I see that it is really necessary. Built-in human detection sensor The sensor*1 detects people, animals, etc., due to temperature changes. *1-1 The sensor detects heat by picking up the infrared light naturally emitted from people and animals. Certain thermal environments, sunlight, air conditioners, heaters, etc., may cause detection errors or decrease the range of the sensor. *1-2 The time needed to send images by e-mail from the camera will vary depending on the condition of the network. When setting the camera to send e-mail images to a cell phone, we recommend setting a longer interval time. If the interval is set too short, more images will be e-mailed to your cell phone and therefore your cell phone charges may be higher. Built-in sensor

Dynamic DNS service supported* It is easy to access your web camera over the Internet using Viewnetcam, a free Dynamic DNS service offered by Panasonic. For more details about this service visit the Viewnetcam.com website. *1 Access www.viewnetcam.com for registration information. *2 These cameras are also compatible with other third-party Dynamic DNS services.
What's a Dynamic DNS service? Unless your Internet provider offers a fixed IP address service, the IP address for each camera (192.75.22.87, etc.) actually changes by the second. As a result it may sometimes be impossible to access the camera. A Dynamic DNS service solves this problem by managing non-fixed IP addresses in such a way that the user can access dynamic IP addresses simply by connecting to a certain URL (Example: bob.viewnetcam.com).

Fast communication and a simple speed test
Easy setup, no complex wiring needed
With data transfer speeds up to a maximum of 190 Mbps*1, actual speeds exceed those of a wireless LAN system. You can use the simple speed measurement function*2 to gauge the communication speed between Master and Terminal units*3. This makes it easy to find which power outlets give you the highest communication speed for a more comfortable network environment.
The starter kit (BL-PA100KT) comes with the settings already made. Just connect the Master unit to a modem, and you're ready to connect to the Internet from any power outlet in the house. Adding more Terminal units (BL-PA100) is easy too, with no need to use a PC. Just follow the three steps below. Up to 15 Terminal units can be added. Since there is no need to run cables all over the house, the appearance remains neat and attractive.

How can you connect to a network from an AC outlet?
Lens cover
Indicator
No bothersome wiring or complicated settings necessary! Simply plug in the HD-PLC Adaptor to turn an ordinary home power outlet into an Internet portal*2. You don't need to drill holes in the wall, route cables along hallways, or make the kind of complex settings that wireless LAN systems require. And all security settings are made automatically. The HD-PLC Adaptor is truly a breakthrough in home networks.
Small, fast data signals such as images and sounds (Fig. A) are sent on top of the large, slow signals of electric power (Fig. B) by the Master unit using a process called superimposition (Fig. C). Once the signals are sent through the electrical wires to the power outlets, the Terminal unit divides them and extracts only the data signals. High security is also assured by AES 128-bit encryption between the Master and Terminal units.

BB-HCM580 does not support audio function or the easy PoE power supply. New Matsushita Advanced Image Converter for Vision Construction; Original image sensor developed by Matsushita Electric Industries. The frame rate may slow down depending on the network environment, PC performance, image quality, SD memory recording, when color night view mode is activated, etc. For MPEG-4 only. Not applicable to JPEG. When viewing images at 1280 x 1024 resolution, frame rate is reduced to 7 fps for all users, regardless of the resolution they are using to view images. Only still images in JPEG format can be displayed on a mobile phone. The maximum number of frames changes depending on the resolution and image quality. POP before SMTP authentication and SMTP authentication (PLAIN, LOGIN and CRAM-MD5) are supported. Use only the included Audio/Video Cable when connecting an external microphone, speaker or TV for BB-HCM581. Products manufactured prior to October 2007 must be updated to the latest firmware. Only the BB-HCM580 includes an AC adaptor. POP before SMTP authentication and SMTP authentication (PLAIN and LOGIN) are supported. SMTP authentication (CRAM-MD5) is not supported.
