Do you agree with Samuel Johnson who said: ‘If you’re tired of London, you’re tired of life?’ Do you often watch Top Gear or House? Are Jamie Oliver, Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde and King Arthur really family names to you? Can you hum the national anthems of the UK and the USA? Are you really in love with the sound of the English language and do you want to share this passion with others?

If you answered YES to any or all of these questions, then it is obvious that you will enjoy studying and teaching English! Teaching English is a rewarding and exciting career! English is fast becoming the ‘world’s language.’ You can help a pupil chat online with English-speaking friends, watch and understand British and American films and TV programmes and communicate the world over! Ready? Start!

First Year

Second Year

Third Year

In the first year, you will unlock all the secrets and wonders of the English-speaking world:

In the second year, you will build your teacher’s toolkit which contains an assortment of didactic strategies, tips and tricks for the classroom:

In the third year, all your practice and knowledge is put to the test as you enter your own class in a semester-long teaching practice. You start off by reviewing and analyzing past tests and teaching practices, and ‘with a little help from your friends’ you will reach for perfection. You will create your own personal portfolio to show your evolution in all aspects of the English language – and your teacher will be your coach.

- study the culture and literature of the Englishspeaking world which will broaden your horizons, making you an inspiring teacher in a secondary school - improve your knowledge of English grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation - practice makes perfect and you will do both - you will practise all these areas in class, through self-study and in small groups! You will put all your hard practice into play when you enter the fascinating world of TEACHING ENGLISH. You will start off slowly with teaching workshops. Build up some speed with microteaching. And then, go full stream when you teach a secondary school class.

- continue to expand your horizons through culture and literature while learning how to use culture and literature to increase pupils’ active involvement. - improve your English skills: listening, watching, reading, speaking, spoken interaction and writing. - continue to increase your grammatical knowledge and vocabulary. Of course, you learn all this by doing and working with authentic materials that push you to become the best English teacher ever! Of course, you get to try things out in longer teaching practices! You learn about cooperative learning, corner work, differentiation, guided independent learning and evaluation by participating in activities designed to teach you what these strategies are and how to use them in the classroom. In short, you learn to be an engaging teacher through engaging activities!

In personal initiatives – ‘just pick and choose’ - you can really show your evolution and become critical of your own and your pupils’ learning process to aim at convincing and high-quality English classes where everybody enjoys and discovers the language and its rich culture and literature and in this way becomes rich, open-minded, sensitive and critical human beings.
