ERT PROJECT CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER HOLIDAY HOURS The Customer Service Center will be closed on Christmas Day and on New Year’s Day Portsmouth, VA – The Elizabeth River Tunnels (ERT) Customer Service Center in Portsmouth will open on a modified schedule in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Holiday hours are as follows: Dec. 24 – 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25 – CLOSED Dec. 31 – 7:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m. New Year’s Day, Jan. 1 – CLOSED Regular hours are as follows: Monday – Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tolling on the Downtown and Midtown tunnels begins Feb. 1, 2014. Gantries over the roadway will collect the toll electronically—with no cash option and no stopping to pay at tollbooths.
