Thanks to various software libraries Trait Templates are automatically converted into OBO*, JSON* and RDF* once submitted online.
Synchronization of the BMS fieldbook with the Trait Dictionaries published on the Crop Ontology Site will enable regular updates of the trait lists. The Crop Ontology Web API will facilitate such synchronization through services that enable retrieval of the standard fieldbook list:

OBO files can be converted into Excel templates which are used by breeders to modify the contents of an ontology.
