Lenovo Enterprise Solution Services – GPFS/GSS Implementation Services Providing customized solutions to meet clients’ technology challenges Overview Used by some of the world’s largest commercial companies and super computers, the IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS) offers greater performance by allowing data to be accessed over several computers at once. The Lenovo System x GPFS Storage Server (GSS) follows a scalable approach; performance and capacity increase as you add multiple building blocks. Let Enterprise Solution Services help you get the most out of your system by quickly configuring it to meet your needs and giving you the skills necessary to perform day-to-day administration tasks.

What is involved? This is a process tailored to customer needs and wants. To begin, an enumeration of hardware participating in the GPFS/GSS cluster and the desired file system attributes is required. If test or benchmark criteria have been established they also need to be known at this time. From that a “Statement of Work” is constructed that is customized to meet the functional requirements. This may require a conference call to discuss options. From the hardware configuration and the list of services desired a project scope and sizing is determined. Once the hardware and services are ordered and delivery is imminent – implementation planning calls will be held to ensure a smooth delivery. When it is mutually convenient a consultant, or a team of consultants depending on the size of the project, will arrive at the datacenter ready to provide the services desired. Before the end of the project the consultant will ensure that functionality is demonstrated and the configuration documented.

What is generally included? Each engagement can be unique but most include the following: A preparation and planning teleconference A implementation and test phase Documentation of the configuration Skills transfer
