Hazel   Trade  Secret  Asset   Management  Tool   Trade secrets   are   an   important,   but   an   invisible   component   of   a   company's   intellectual   property   portfolio   of   assets.   They   can   add   tremendous   business   value,   so   they   need   to   be   properly   and   professionally   managed  and  looked  after.

The  Hazel  tool  has  been  designed  to  be  relatively  easy  to  install,  configure  and  take  into  use   The  Hazel  tool  manages  metadata,  not  trade  secret  information,  leaving  trade  secret   information  in  its  current,  secure  locations   It  has  clear  simple  and  logical  data  entry  screens  enabling  the  entry  of  trade  secret  metadata   with  limited  specialised  training  or  legal  help  needed  by  the  user   It  contains  a  detailed  built  in  trade  secret  classification  methodology  and  this  classification   methodology  is  easily  customised.    The  categorisation  capabilities  of  the  Hazel  tool  may  also   be  extended  using  a  ‘tagging’  feature   The  Hazel  tool  contains  a  specialised  database  developed  for  trade  secret  asset  management   The  Hazel  tool  has  a  feature  which  creates  a  historical  audit  trail  of  additions  and  changes   It  contains  an  ‘access  module’  to  track  the  individuals,  groups  and/or  companies  with  access   to  each  trade  secrets  as  well  as  their  access  level   It  contains  a  ‘protection  module’  to  log  the  different  administrative,  technical  and  legal   mechanisms  in  use  to  secure  each  trade  secrets   The  ‘review  module’  supports  regular  reviews  of  the  trade  secrets  logging  the  participants,   date  and  key  outputs  of  such  reviews.    The  ‘action  module’  allows  all  associated  actions  from   the  reviews  to  be  logged  and  tracked   The  Hazel  tool  may  be  used  to  manage  those  trade  secrets  shared  with  3rd  parties,  such  as   collaboration  partners.    It  may  also  be  used  to  manage  any  trade  secrets  belonging  to  3rd   parties  and  entrusted  to  the  company   The  filtering  feature  enables  the  user  to  conduct  both  quick  and  advanced  searches  through   the  data   A  comprehensive  and  customisable  suite  of  reports  may  be  automatically  generated  by  the   Hazel  tool   A  USB  hard-­‐key  device  protects  the  Hazel  tool  from  un-­‐authorised  access   The  Hazel  tool  has  been  designed  using  Microsoft  technology   The  Hazel  tool  should  be  installed  locally,  but  the  data  can  be  local  or  on  a  network  drive.     Data  is  NOT  stored  on  the  cloud.
