To use Ubuntu without installing it onto your computer, select Demo and full
installation. ○ To install Ubuntu under Windows, select Install inside Windows.
Installing Ubuntu Insert the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition CD into the CD drive.
Enter the username that you wish to use in Ubuntu, followed by the password. The password must be entered twice. Then click Install.
Once completed, remove the Ubuntu CD and then click Finish to restart the computer.
After a few seconds, the Ubuntu CD Menu appears. ● ●
To use Ubuntu without installing it onto your computer, select Demo and full installation. To install Ubuntu under Windows, select Install inside Windows. Windows is not replaced when Ubuntu is installed.
Note that the performance of the computer degrades if Ubuntu is running directly off the CD. The rest of this guide shows how to install Ubuntu inside Windows. After Install inside Windows is selected, the setup files are extracted and the Ubuntu Setup dialog box appears.
When the computer restarts, a new option appears in the startup menu. Choose Ubuntu, and then press Enter.
The Ubuntu Setup Wizard checks the installation files to ensure that they have not been corrupted, and then it creates the base Ubuntu image. This process takes a few minutes.
The message 'Press 'Esc' to enter the menu' appears. Ignore this message and allow the computer to continue to start up. The Ubuntu splash screen is displayed while the computer starts.

After restarting, Ubuntu first checks the installation and partitions the disks. Next, it copies the necessary files. Then it installs the system. This process takes about fifteen minutes. After Ubuntu has finished installing, the computer is restarted once more.
