The rising demands of wind energy and the need for new offshore wind  1  2 platforms installation requires a preliminary assessment analysis. To1      1  ( )     1 ( x(i)   ) wards this direction it is important to consider a variety of factors used  for wind farm siting. The natural resources can be used for the definition where x denotes the parameter under study and N the size of the sample. of the energy potential of the area and the local climate. At the same time, the intense anthropogenic activity, the biodiversity and the sediment char- Extreme value analysis acteristics may affect the installation of wind turbines in the area of interest. These factors can behave as constraints and set the site unsuitable. The analysis is based on the principles of Extreme Value Theory and in particular Peaks Over Threshold method (POT) (Coles & Walshaw, 1994; The main objectives are: Patlakas et al., 2015).
