From the New SNMMI Historian Frederic Fahey, DSc, SNMMI Historian s the SNMMI Historian, I would first like to thank Naomi Alazraki, MD, and all the previous SNM historians for their fine work in preserving the history not only of our society but also of the field in general. My hope is that I can serve proudly in light of their legacy. I have had the privilege to work with Dr. Alazraki over the past several years to institute 2 programs that we plan to continue: the History Sessions and the Wall of Remembrance at the SNMMI Annual Meeting. These have each been quite well received. The 2015 History Session in Baltimore, MD, will have a European flavor, with Ralph McCready, MSc, and Frank Bengel, MD, who will speak on the history of nuclear medicine in the United Kingdom and Germany, respectively, and Angelika Bischof Delaloye, MD, who will present on the history of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine. I am sure that this session, which will be held on Sunday, June 7, will prove to be very interesting. We have begun to look at the historical records that the SNMMI maintains, with a view toward organizing these in a manner that can better serve the membership and the nuclear medicine community. Although these collections include a wealth of interesting material, it is a bit like looking into a crowded attic. It will take some time to work our way through it all and to determine the best way to organize and maintain the material. I will keep everyone posted. We have established a History page on the SNMMI website at www.snmmi.org/history. We are starting to assemble materials for the site but have more work still to do. As of now, presentations from the Annual Meeting History Session for the past 4 years are available, as well as 2 special event videos from 2014 and 2013 (1 celebrating 60 years of the Annual Meeting and the other 60 years of the SNM/SNMMI). Images of the Wall of Remembrance from 2014 and 2013 are also available on the site. As we head to Baltimore for the 2015 SNMMI Annual Meeting, I want to bring 2 projects to your attention. First, we are working on an exhibit to honor one of our most beloved

pioneers, Henry N. Wagner, Jr., MD. We are pleased to be working with Judy Buchanan and Bob Dannals, PhD, from Johns Hopkins, and with Anne Wagner to recognize Dr. Wagner’s contributions as an educator, scientist, and clinician as well as a friend and colleague to so many individuals around the world. We are also working on a book focusing on Dr. Wagner’s Highlight Frederic Fahey, DSc Lectures at the SNM Annual Meetings. We have assembled the summaries of these lectures as published in Newsline. This volume will provide a unique look at the ways in which nuclear medicine changed from the early 1980s to Dr. Wagner’s last Highlights Lecture in 2009. I believe that this will be a wonderful collection that many individuals, both within and outside our field, will find fascinating. History not only provides a look at our origins but can also offer insights into future directions. I welcome The Highlights Lectures will inall insights, comments, clude the Newsline Wagner Highand suggestions about lights Lecture coverage from how we might do a bet- 1981 to 2009. ter job of capturing the history of both the SNMMI and the fields of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.
