Journal of Computer Networks and Communications Special Issue on Green Computing Technologies: Energy Efficiency, Energy Utilization, and Energy Conservation in the Internet of Things

CALL FOR PAPERS The connected technology related carbon footprints can be considerably controlled by novel and innovative advancements towards green computing technologies. The connected technology is supporting intelligent automation and resource utilization towards living with greener and smarter things. The communication and computation enabled growing connected world oriented digitization of things is pressing towards the smaller and smarter devices around us. The tiny sensor enabled smaller devices are energy constrained due to their smaller size oriented limited battery power. Further to this power constraint, the increasing demand of smarter devices enhances computing requirement in large volume resulting in higher energy consumption. It is noteworthy that frequent battery charging reduces device friendliness and interrupts normal operation of devices. Towards green computing technology, energy-centric study is one of the key research themes in Internet of Things (IoT). However, the topic has not witnessed enough attentions focusing on network heterogeneousness. There are various questions that need to be answered regarding enabling green computing in IoT, for example, how to optimize energy consumption in sensor enabled IoT environments? how to design interference aware communication architecture for IoT? what are the implications in implementing traditional green computing techniques for IoT? what are the distributed communication and computing techniques for IoT? We welcome unpublished research and review articles from both academia and industries focusing on green computing technologies in IoT. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following: Energy optimization frameworks for green computing in sensor enabled IoT Interference aware communication frameworks for green computing in IoT Quantity of energy oriented architectures for green computing in IoT Optimizing distributed communication models for green computing in IoT Edge computing oriented decentralized architectures for green computing IoT Optimizing transmission energy focusing on new developments in sensor technology Communication optimization for green computing in under water sensor enabled IoT Access control based energy models for green computing in body sensor enabled IoT Video streaming oriented green computing in vehicular network enabled IoT Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at https://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/jcnc/griom/. Papers are published upon acceptance, regardless of the Special Issue publication date.
